Pokerstars $5 rebuy with $25 addon...worth it?

    $5 rebuys get you 1000

    $25 addon gets you 5000

    Are these worth playing? It seems like having the BR to addon gives you a decent edge in itself since only a small % of players addon.

    What is the strategy adjustment in these? When is it not worth it to addon?

    I've only played this one a few times and don't really like the 10 min level structure when starting stacks are only 1000 chips. I'd suggest playing the rebuy hour pretty straight-forward then adding on. Unless there's a lot of gambling going on at your table, it's hard to build a stack with 1000 chip rebuys. GL.

    I dont play this all that often, but the players are horrible, and the 10 min levels give you a decent advantage over the weak players.

    the thing that rocks about this tourney is that it usually only gets about 200-300 people in it.... eff huge fields!!!!!

    good tourney, if you can afford the rebuys through out the first hour you should be a big stack and adding on will be unnecessary

    I played it not long ago, never rebought and was at 7 k at break. I am sure there where 200 25.00 ads one at my table was in for 50.00 and had to finish good just to break even.

    played it once and hated it .. u have to kill the rebuy period to be in a decent/good spot going into the 2nd 5 minute break or just do serious work after the rebuy ends from the 1st to 2nd break ... id stick to $10 rebuy if ur gonna do this tourny .. on top of the fact if u get a real bad table that doesnt gamble in the rebuy period ur gonna end up real short going into the actual tourny with 1k in chips for each $5

    I've played these tournaments at around 8 or 9pm EST. They have an PLO8 and a PLO tournament of this type.

    These tourneys really often you some great value. The strucutre is fast and you'll probably need to the $25 addon.

    However, This is the equivalent of playing a 30 or 40 buyin with only .50 in rake.

    That's really a great value.

    In addition, they players are really bad and there are tons of rebuy nuts. If you run well during the rebuy period, you won't need to spend the $25 to addon.

    I recommend giving them a try.

    i like it, but dont play it much because the feild is to small. really wish 3 or 400 more played it...

    the way it is now, it doesnt pay off well if you have to rebuy much.

    A $40/50 MTT with .50 Rego is pretty good Value IMO.

    Took 2nd out of 414 for $1395 in it last night. Guess it was worth it, lol.

    It seems like you would have to be CL at your table by more than 5000 (prob like T15,000 or more) in order to skip the addon, and even then prob should anyway.

    Pretty soft and the field was almost half gone by the time the rebuy period was over, then less than half the remaining players added on leaving a lot of short stacks under 3000 or so, which was very nice.

    I will def play this tournament again. Thanks all!

    nicely done! Ive only played this once and I thought the field was insanely soft and so many dont have the right strategy regarding rebuys/addons its crazy! Problem is its on too late for us europeans! :(

    I agree, wish there were more mid-stakes tourneys on Tilt and stars with like 200-400 people. I made a post a while ago asking about EV of different field sizes:

    Not too many replies, but consensus seemed to be that EV was not effected, only variance. Not sure I agree.

    I mainly like smaller fields though because I only have about a 4-5 hour window to play at night and anything over like 500 will last at least 6 hours. Even the smaller ones are lasting longer with some of the sites doubling the starting stack, which I like, but it makes it even harder to find a decent mid-stakes MTT that starts between 8 and 9pm that will end by 1am or so.

    Stars just doubled the starting stack of my favorite tourney, the $55 6max at 22:15, which now means I can't play it unless I want to be up till 3am, which is hard when I have to work the next AM. BOO HOO HOO!
