  1. Hi folks -
Obviously, there are many unanswered questions at this point - we'll let you know more as time progresses.

However, there are three important things that we can tell you right now:

    1. Your money is completely safe at pokerstars. It's kept in a segregated account at one of the largest banks in Europe.

    2. You do, and will, have 24/7 access to your account funds. You will always be able to get to your money.

    3. We have not made a decision one way or another as regards closing our American accounts.

The other thing that I can promise is that we'll keep the lines of communication open to forums such as these. Stay tuned.

    Best regards,
    Lee Jones

    PokerStars Poker Room Manager
  2. Thanks for the quick response, Lee, and great job on the WCOOP.
  3. TY LEE

  4. Thanks Lee for coming on as soon as you could to give us pokerstars.com's position on this. Although there's a huge amount of speculation going on right now, it is comforting to hear from you, and to know that PokerStars will keep their players updated.

    David

  5. "I can promise is that we'll keep the lines of communication open to forums such as these."

That right there is why stars is the best. Thanks Lee
  6. Who is this Lee Jones character?
  7. Hey Lee,

I recently moved from the United States to England. Will I be affected at all by the new legislation?
  8. this character is still and will always be my hero
  9. In case you missed it in an online article about pokerstars...

partypoker, PokerStars to pull out of US market
Gambling911.com has learned that PartyPoker and PokerStars will likely be following 888.com suit and be pulling out of the US market.

Sources close to both poker rooms have informed Gambling911 that statements should be issued some time Monday from the two firms.

PartyGaming, fearful of its share price tumbling, is expected to announce that it will focus exclusively on the European and Asian markets as well as Canada.

PokerStars reason for pulling is not known at this time since the company does not trade publicly. News regarding PokerStars came from a number of high level internet gambling executives close to the company though no official confirmation has come from PokerStars management itself during the early morning hours Monday.

Just thought I would throw that out there and I wouldnt be totally relient on what Mr. Jones says.
  10. Mesaplayeraz,

We have just received a statement from the poker room manager of pokerstars.com, Lee Jones, which you can read above. For over 13 months, I have been a customer of PokerStars.com. Since this site's inception, it has enjoyed a healthy relationship with PokerStars.com. And in that time, there has not been a single case where I doubted Lee Jones' sincerity or the Support Team's willingness to provide top-notch service to its customers. The 3 points made by Lee seem very clear to me... and I will take that as an official response from PokerStars, instead of a story that was written 4 hours ago.

  11. David,

As I said in my post.. Id just thought I would throw that out there.. you know.. in case people missed it in other posts.

"News regarding pokerstars came from a number of high level internet gambling executives close to the company though no official confirmation has come from PokerStars management itself during the early morning hours Monday."

When high ranking officals make comments like these on condition of anyonimty (spelling is off cuz its late here) they tend to be true, otherwise, why make such comments? Just because Lee Jones is the poker room manager doesnt mean he runs day to day operations of Pokerstars.
  12. "3. We have not made a decision one way or another as regards closing our American accounts." - Lee Jones

    This part disturbs me.

  13. Lee -

Can I have my chat back please?
  14. Hahahahahahahahahhahaha

    Principle of the thing, huh?

    Last minute pardon.
  15. Lee, some fodder for your lawyers

  19. here's an email I got in response from support-

    Hello Ian,

We appreciate and share your concerns about the bill which passed in
the US Congress this weekend regarding the funding of internet gaming, as
an attachment to a Port Security bill.

pokerstars' management and legal team are examining the bill at this
time. Until we understand the potential impact of the bill, we cannot
comment on how it will impact our players or PokerStars. Please note
that the bill includes a 270-day window for enforcement procedures to
be established, so we do not expect to see any immediate changes in
the ability to transfer funds to and from PokerStars.

Also please remember that your money is safe on PokerStars. All
player funds are in a segregated account at the Royal Bank of Scotland.

As always, we thank you for playing on PokerStars.

    Regards,

  21. This is why I dispise the "unnamed souces" that so many choose to base quotes and facts upon. I tend to agree that we can trust Lee Jones a great deal more than an unnamed executive somewhere that supposed facts in an article are based upon. The world would be a better place if no unnamed sources were ever quoted in any story until after the facts were uncovered and provable. (My personal rant against week ass journalism)

That being said there are obviously no gaurantees with anything other than we as a community have been shaken up quite a bit at least for now.

If we as a community stick together and don't give up I'm betting we have a great chance to keep online poker alive for a very long time. At least , I certainly hope so
  22. lmao @ people e-mailing support as if LEE JONES HIMSELF DIDN'T POST THIS. geez donks I love stars support too but rumour has it Mr. Lee Jones is pretty in the loop as well...
  23. any chance of stars taking a stance like true poker?

" Can I make a Deposit to TruePoker from the United States ?

Congress passed the UIGE Act of 2006, which covers deposits made by US players to certain types of sites. Our read is that Act covers only sites which offer Sports Betting or Casino type games where you bet against the Site itself.

We are not going to be breaking any laws, we believe this Act does not apply to sites not in "the business of betting or wagering", which we are not.

We will need to see what develops in the payments processing industry over the next few weeks with respect to your ability to send money, but TruePoker's poker operations will continue for US players.

    Summary:

TruePoker does NOT make or accept bets or wagers in which it has any stake in the outcome. So, our games and tournaments, and your deposits, are not covered by this UIGE Act of 2006.

TruePoker does not have a stake in the outcome of the games or tournaments we offer, in the US or anywhere else. (We do not offer casino games or sports betting, and so have no stake in the outcome and are not in the "business of betting or wagering")

    Business Decisions:

Certain sites, such as party and Pacific, have decided to abandon the US poker market as a busness decision. We view our commitment to our customes a bit differently. The Act does not outlaw playing poker on the Internet from the US, period. We certainly will accept deposits and new accounts as long as we can do so. We see NO reason to cut off play in any event under this Act.

As you do, We await developments in the payments processing industry, but it is business as usual for Truepoker's poker operations."
  24. I really hope pokerstars takes a stand. They always seem to come through in the clutch so lets hope they do it again.

On a bright note, Stars doesn't offer any type of wagering besides poker. I think one of the huge factors in party's decision was the fact they they have so many other games of chance with the whole party gaming thing.
  25. True, this is one of the reasons I favour stars over every other site out there.

party and 888.com have gone all out to be gambling sites

Stars has remained true to it's poker players, big difference.

I always assumed that there would come a day when I would log into stars and see the ubiquitous blackjack or side bets or casino games had infected that sie as well.

They never have and now it looks like they never will.

    Fuck Party, Fuck gambling

    Let's play some fucking poker!
  26. I friggen love the fact that Lee comes on here personally to tell us stars is still allowing us to play. I love Lee and I love Stars!

  27. roflmao @ ballistik
  28. stars is by far the most superior site on the net. Rank Lee Jones!!!!!!
  29. So when i place a BET on my hand that it is better than your hand and there are odds involved it doesnt matter because they dont effect the outcome?

I LOVE THIS SITE! They are followers of the bill clinton priciples of a bj is not sex! rock on for taking a stand!
    bet =bj.
gambling on sports and slots =sex.
i think im going to go get a bet!
  30. Now is the time for Americans to say fuck democrats, fuck republicans, let's all go Libertarian.
