  4. If this is in fact true.. then good! About friggin time one of these sites stepped up to this kind of crap.
  5. Great news
  6. ...good.

  7. This is not going to change anything. You can ban anyone you want to. if they want to play, where there is a will there is a way
  8. so now when I play a tourney and need a friend to take over what then...? not talkin jj or some baller, just s friend while i go take care of an errand that just came up? will i be viewed as some criminal then by all of you?

hope this ip thing wont be taken to far etc etc
  9. why wouldn't you just have said friend run the errand for you? or just sit out until you get back if it's that important? What possible errand would you need to run that just couldn't wait until the the tourney is over with? sounds like poor planning to me....
  10. agreed this is good to hear i wonder who will post saying this is a terrible idea
  11. This still opens the door to let any friend take over, what if your friend is JJ ?. They cant discriminate who your friends are.
  12. they still cant help it if someone sits on your computer and plays for you. Unless they have little cameras in everyones rooms.
     1
  13. In the past, in most cases when I say 'friend' it was 2 guys,..... one living in New York i.e and the other one living wherever it is JJ lives.

I was first one to say this. Theres going to be some more bannings coming.

  14. gg team pokerstars...hope it sticks and nails...all I got to say about any of this 'errand' stuff...what happens live if you have to go? If you want to win, you stay, if something else is more important you go.

    That is all...

    fetaman
  15. Cigar understands this. If two people are in the same house, then obv stars isnt going to know due to ISP thingy.

However, if someone plays in a tourny and then at some point in the tourny that account is being played under a different ISP, then banhammer will more than likely come.

So, lets say someone in the top 10 backs me in a tourny. They dont play in the tourny, but suppose the poker gods are actually smiling on me and the RNG of stars likes me for one tourny and I go really deep, like final 2 tables deep.

Then lets say during a break, I log out and then my backer logs into my account, Stars picks up on the different ISP that the account is being used and realizes its someone else. GG me and the $$$!

There is no way Stars can know who is playing in your account AT YOUR HOUSE, but they can know if your account is being played in a different location later on in a tournament.
  16. Exactly. If it's that important for you to win, then you stay.
  17. I think they'll probably have to do more than check to see if your IP address has changed in a tournament. Say you get disconnected and need to relocate to get back into the game. Are they going to ban you for that?

I think I also remember hearing in a Bax video once that he started a tournament at the office and ran home in one of the breaks to finish it. That's not cheating.

I'm glad to hear that pokerstars is stepping up and trying to get rid of the cheaters, and wish them luck.
  18. If you get disconnected its because of shitty ISP. Probably a good idea to have a back up like dial up.

If a tourny is important enough to you that you would consider driving to another location should you get disconnected from your home, then you should have back up in case it happens.
  19. JohnnyBax has an OFFICE??
  20. "shenanigans"
  21. its a start....
  22. If Johnny Bax's Office is in California, and he ran home to NY to finish it. then GG Mr Bax. Just an 'for instance'. Not implieing anything here about anyone.

Heres a claification from pokerstars. I dont know how in the world they came up with the husband wife rules, as most do live together, and common property or the winnings are owned by both. How would they ever be able to tell who actually played the game from a same computer?

    anyway, the email.

Thanks for taking time to express your concerns. As a senior member of
PokerStars' game security team I've been asked to address them. We take

the integrity of our games seriously. The issue of account sharing has
become a matter of much discussion a direct result of action we've
    taken.

In the past our position on this matter was not as clear as it could
    have
been. This likely explains inconsistent responses you've received in
    the
    past.

After considerable discussion our tournament rules have been updated to
clarify our position on the matter. The following is from our
    tournament
rules page. You will see that it has been recently updated to clarify
    the
    issue of "hand offs".

    <
With trivial exceptions, a player may play on only one account during a
tournament and may not "hand off" his seat in mid-event to a different
player. Violation of this rule may result in penalties ranging from a
warning, to disqualification from the tournament (with partial or full
forfeiture of winnings), to barring from PokerStars.

    Examples:
    1) You get a phone call during a PokerStars tournament. You ask your
husband, who has already busted out of that tournament, to play your
    hands
for you. You are on the phone for ten minutes and then resume play. This

    is permitted.

    2) You and a friend are playing in the same tournament. You agree that
    if
he busts out before you do, he will take over playing your account. This

    is prohibited.

    3) You are playing in a tournament and lose power in your home due to a
failure of your power station. You call a friend and he takes over until

your power is returned. This is permitted.

    4) Your husband is out of town for the weekend, but gives you his
password. You log into both his account and yours and play both accounts

in the same tournament. This is prohibited.

    5) You have progressed to the final few tables of a tournament and
somebody offers you cash equity for your seat. You allow the other
    player
to sign into your account, or you continue to finish the tournament
following the explicit instructions given by him. This is prohibited.
    >

Your concerns however go beyond the specific issue of handing off an
account during a tournament. Your questions deal with the issue of
account sharing in general. Due to an increase in the number of players

expressing similar concerns, we have clarified the matter as follows.

Our terms of service have been recently updated to clearly address the
issue. Item 5.2 in the section on "PROHIBITED USES" now includes the
    following...

"A User may only have one account with PokerStars and shall only use the

Service using such single account. Furthermore a User shall not permit
another person to use the Service via his account.".

We've already started cracking down on blatant cases. Policies and
procedures are under review to provide more effective detection and
    stricter enforcement.

With these things in mind, I'll address you specific questions.

    1) Is it against PokerStars rules to allow someone else to play on your
account for an ENTIRE tournament or an entire day or something, if they
are only playing on ONE account and not playing the same entire
tournaments from another account as well?

Yes, it is against the rules. Each player should use only one account
apart from some very specific exceptions related to an emergency
    situation
during an ongoing tournament. In the unlikely event that happens, you
should be prepared to document the emergency.

    2) Is it against PokerStars rules to give someone the password to your
    account...

Yes, it is against the rules except in emergency situations as noted
above. You should change your password as soon as possible after the
emergency so that no one but you knows it.

    3) If you win a seat to a satellite and are not available to play it,
    can
you ask someone else to play that tournament for you on your behalf?

No. You should immediately un-register from the event. Your account
    will
be credited with T$ which can be used to play at a time when you are
available. If un-registration is not an option for the event in
    question,
immediately send an email to support@pokerstars.com explaining the
situation. We will advise you how to proceed.

Regarding items 1 and 2, it is highly recommended someone immediately
email PokerStars at support@pokerstars.com explaining the nature of the
emergency. Besides making it clear that the account owner is unable to
play, they should provide the account ID of the person taking over.
Again, be prepared to document the emergency situation. Failure to do
    so
    could lead to disqualification.

As this indicates we take the integrity of our games seriously and are
being proactive in the area of detecting accounts that are shared for
    any
reason. Besides existing tools that help us identify potential abusers,

additional tools are under development or are being reviewed for
    possible
    implementation.

Again, we appreciate your concerns and your input. The management team
monitors the forums. Emails like yours are routinely forwarded to them
    as
a source of player input. We know that we owe much of our success to
listening to our players. We continue to do so
  23. With the "no one man to a hand" rule, what's the diff between someone logging off and having someone else play or having the following convo on AIM

    ME: KQs
    LOLGUY: raise to 27544
ME: okay sounds good, cyber buddy

    *me raises to 27544

ME: Man it's a good thing we're not breaking the rules
LOLGUY: Yup, this is way more legit. Oh BTW you still have to give me 60%
ME: Oh cyber buddy, you're awesome.
