Pokerstars rules on datamining

    I remember back when we were arguing over the ethics of using datamining software and sites to gain reads on our opponents. I find it very amusing when people now complain that multi-accounting messes up their pokerdb and pokerHUD reads.
    There seems to be a misconception about the rules regarding those sites and software. I couldn't find anything on FullTilt banning them, but i did see this in the pokerstars rules:

    5.4. EXTERNAL PLAYER ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS (EPA). PokerStars prohibits those External Player Assistance Programs ("EPA Programs") which are designed to provide an "Unfair Advantage" to players. PokerStars defines "External" to mean computer software (other than the Software), and non-software-based databases or profiles (e.g. web sites and subscription services). PokerStars defines an "Unfair Advantage" as any instance in which a User accesses or compiles information on other players beyond that which the User has personally observed through the User's own game play.     When does something become against the rules? When only a few people do it? When someone gets caught and punished for it? Or when a site says so?

    This mean that people can't use things like PokerTracker anymore?

    pokerstars defines an "Unfair Advantage" as any instance in which a User accesses or compiles information on other players beyond that which the User has personally observed through the User's own game play.

    PokerTracker and similar programs are fine, because they base statistics solely on the hands you have seen.

    The part about pokerstars possibly scanning programs in memory to see what you are running; I hope that their software doesn't turn into a resource hog like good old partypoker.

    Simply put on stars you may only datamine tables you are sitting at and playing tilt you can datamine every hand of every tournament if your comp can handle the load lol
