About a week ago I get this email that they are freezing my account with a list of players that I supposedly have some potential relationship with. I have only had an account on pokerstars for the past 5 weeks and have lost about 1K for the trouble.
I don't know any of the players and to be honest am a relatively unsophisticated player who only does it for fun now and then. I told them as much in an email. They send me an email back:
================================================== ===========
Hello XXXX,
Thank you for your reply.
We have now established that you are not related to any of these players.
However, we are still awaiting to receive the completed Pokerstars
verification form along with required documents to take this matter
further.
We look forward to your reply.
Best,
XXXX

They are now demanding that I give them my personal financial information which frankly I don't want floating around the servers on a gambling site. I used my debit card so PokerStars would have my bank statement. I know the security software they run is filled with bugs; I don't want my banking information lying around where pretty much anyone can sort through it at PokerStars.
So now they are refusing to close my account and refund the remainder of my money unless I give them the information they want.
I'll never play on PokerStars again and it's worth mentioning that I never had such an unpleasant experience on Bodog. PokerStars doesn't need my action obviously but if they chase off the small time players like me then who is left ??? The professional online players.
I can tell you guys it's going to be a lot tougher winning money off of the leader board on this site then it has been up against me.
I think PokerStars by throwing accustations around that are unfounded is hurting online poker. If it can happen to a small time casual player like me it can happen to anyone. Fact is they froze my account and made an allegation that wasn't true. Fact is now they refuse to refund my money unless I send in my bank statement.
Do you guys trust PokerStars ? I know that after this I certainly don't. -
So in 5 weeks with pokerstars, you've determined their security software is filled with bugs.
Cool, you should go play UB - they are completely clean.
*Edit* Fwiw, Stars is the safest site to play on, and the best. Asking for your information is completely standard. I would rather have a site who is strict with security measures than not strict. If they didn't have these measures in place, there'd be a lot worse stuff going on. -
Freezing a players account is a drastic measure. It's not a small time thing; we're talking about freezing their funds. With a list of players that I have never heard of before ?
How did they come up with the list of players ? How ? By running a query against the history in their database.
When that is done there is normally some sort of post processing to ensure that the list of players makes sense in some way. In my case it doesn't.
And by the way just because your to stupid to understand software doesn't mean that I am. Fives weeks is more then enough time for me to get a feel for a piece of software. It's what I do for a living... do you have any clue at all when it comes to technology??
Obviously you don't konw a thing about technology since bad software is manifest in a matter of minutes and five weeks is more then enough time for bugs to surface . Better stick with some line of work where you don't have to think much. -
Lol, you make me laugh. Really...you do. I'll stop responding to your idiocy.
