  1. Tonight on pokerstars Neverwin was playing and was talking to jee1 he was telling neverwin that he had just got back from the Commerce and the talk around the tables at the Commerce is that Pokerstars is considering closing to US players within the next 5 days. Neverwin did respond that jee1's sources are probably not very reliable, but has anyone else heard rumors at all about this??
  2. if stars was, we'd know personally and stars would obv tell us about it. not just dip out like that. dont be so paranoid about it guys.
  3. OMG plz dont start the panic
  4. I was watching this chat and was just wondering about this. pokerstars has had news alerts about deposit and withdraw options that are no longer available. Once there are almost no more options for US players Pokerstars and other sites may just stop offering to US players. You can only suffocate for so long before you die, hence US players can only get thier options taken away for so long before there are no more options

  5. thx, post it in one of the neteller threads please, because pokerstars isn't closing
  6. send them a money order and they can send u a check its simple and primitive but it works
  7. There may be some validity to these rumors. I spoke with a Nexum Financial person (Live Chat) and he said it is 50/50 right now, but did not go into any details. I then spoke with a online banking manager from National City Bank who has been following all of these laws and thinks that its a very good chance that these many of these poker sites will be closed to US player because of these laws and because of things in the news with overseas 3rd party companies (i.e. Neteller).

Obviously this was his opinions, but he would have a good insight into what might be happening. He did state that banks are putting the lockdown on all transactions that even might hint anything of gambling online.

  8. Most worthless post ever. Has no conclusive evidence, and will just cause panic. These are so stupid

  9. 50/50? Do you always get your line from an $8/hr. customer service rep?

Any word on whether he like the Colts or da Bears?
  10. im scared anyway
  11. I highly doubt that stars would just pull the rug out from US players without any warnings. And if/when they did close to US players, I also believe that when they sort out how they are going to Tax the US market (= the reason this is all happening), stars will be the front runner in any Legal US poker sites that start up, so Im not too worried about if and when and worry about my money in their bank acount, if anything like this does occur, they will make good on any outstanding US debts thinking ahead for the future, ..........and if this is not their thinking...then they need to fire that Exec. in charge of these decisions and hire me.
  12. Point Taken. Thx for the flame. And go with the Bears.

I said it was there opinion. I didnt say it was the truth. The customer service rep may have no validity, but when speaking with this manager from a very reputable bank (NCB), he made sound like he knew what he was talking about, thats all.

  13. I heard this yesterday as well, I heard a week though. You guys think stars would actually give notice? Did any of the other sites give notice? No, it just ended out of the blue. This makes me sick
  14. Actually, yes. ParadisePoker gave several weeks notice (about a month) before they finally shut off. I believe party had a few weeks too.

    Bud
  15. Why wouldnt they? With the current political climate in the US, poker sites, and some players, are running scared (using fear again, go figure.). Isnt stars located on the Isle of Man..wouldnt be suprised if neteller and stars servers were co-located in the same facility. Id say the odds were as good for stars to decline US traffic, as to have a high profile online player busted within a month.

THE SKY IS FALLING....... JUST LOOK UP.
  16. Completely agree Sets. As soon as people would find out is when people would withdrawl there money. stars is like any other business there money sits in a bank and draws interest and they make investments with that money. Why in the hell would stars tell people that they are shutting down for US players. They want as much money as they can sitting in their accounts until the bitter end. All they have to do is shut down, tell everyone thank you, regroup, and tell everyone there withdrawls will be available in 5 months
  17. People are definetly in denial of the obivous...Not that i blame anybody, i just think people need to realize it wont be long before online poker is gone for good in the us.

    canada anyone?
  18. I dont understand why the sites would close to the US...there is nothing the government can do about it...they are offshore and they DAMN WELL cant block the site...thats like China Communism-type stuff...it'll never happen...

The government seems to be the most concerned with sports betting, which PS and UB do not do.

  19. Another point:

pokerstars has said NUMEROUS times that all of our money is in segregated accounts, meaning if we all cashed out at the same time, they'd have no problem processing the cashouts. Regardless of what happens, we'll all get our money.

Now if I can't make 500k this year like I planned to...sure, I'll be a little upset. Oh well, I'm already planning on going back to college.
  20. Goggles,

Nice cash this weekend first of all.

What do you mean by segregates accounts? Do you mean multiple accounts? Accounts that are not specifically linked to pokerstars and are entirely devoted to moving money in and out for poker use?

    College good. Where you going?
  21. for each of our pkerstars accounts is a bank account in the bank is the actual money online its just numbers but any trans goes through the bank im pretty sure i heard lee say something to this accord before
  22. I think I understood that. Your saying each of our poker accts has a bank acct number associated with it at pokerstars bank of choice. Wow that almost doesnt sound possible that every single poker account has its own and seperate account number at a bank some where.
  23. ^ ^ lol, I don't think it's quite like that ^ ^ . Not for every individual. Think of it as a "general" or "consolidated" account or several accounts.

When I took a tour of our local bank at the age of 7, I remember how disappointed I was to discover my $25 Savings Account money wasn't held in a separate shoe box in the vault. Before that sobering experience, I had visions of nickels & dimes jumping into my own lil' shoe box as my account accumulated interest.

  24. royal bank of scotland i think, maybe neteller =]
  25. Most poker sites reinvest our money in order to make even MORE than the rake. They'll invest in the stock market or something and keep a lot of money tied up that way. Basically, if everyone would have withdrew their money from party poker at one time, they would not have had all the cash to pay us because a lot of it is tied up in other investments. Poker stars keeps all of our money together, meaning there would be no trouble with a massive cashout.
  26. As a Canadian, and unnaffected so far, I am watching how fast this is happening in the U.S , and I have to say, as a neutral 3'rd party, I cannot believe how most of you have the blinders on , and are refusing to see the obvious. Of course pokerstars will cut off US customers. The way this is all unfolding is obviously well thought out, and intended to remove on-line gambling completely in the US, or at least until the government can regulate it . I mean step back and look how quickly this has happened,

    - most on here said the Bill would never be passed - IT WAS PASSED
    - "ya but it won't be enforced" - party poker cuts off US players immediately
    - "nothing will happen for at least 270 days" - several other poker and sportsbook sites cut off US customers
    - "the laws won't affect Neteller as they are not a US company" - NO more US Neteller transactions
    - "there is still other options " - Westen Union for one, already trying to crack down on on-line gambling deposits, and consider it fraud -as I was told by a WU worker this morning

    - "someone else will step up and offer Neteller type service" - remains to be seen
    - " Pokerstars would give notice if they are gonna shut down " - O'rly ? ..like the other sites did ?

I am not trying to come across as a dick ,or putting anyone down, its just from my perspective the writing on the wall seems obvious, because I am not blinded by hope.

And I am very concerned that Canada, will just follow along with the US , if there is any pressure put on them to do so..

Anyway, I hope I am dead wrong, as what is happening in the US is not good for any of us.
  27. Best post of the year by kanataholdem!

Thank you Capatin Obvious. Hopefully the sheeple will finally listen.
  28. I am not a pessimist at all. The above response is probably the most realistic and well thought out vision of just exactly what is going on here.

Time to go back to school or start looking for a job within your field of study college students...read the writing on the wall...
  29. Thats funny, I was playing live last night and word around the poker room was that online poker is rigged....
  30. I was just trying to understand what he meant by segregates accounts. My understanding is stars would have our money wrapped up in investments and whatnot, and if we all cashed out at the same time then it would not work. I didnt think that that each person had there own separate acct for their poker accout through stars. I was just tryin to understand how this is all down.
