What's the consensus?

I used PT for several years. Then HEM added Omaha into the same combined product. I took the trial and now I only use HEM.
-
Was PT user for years, moved over to HEM last year....best thing I ever did poker related!
Really clueless why anyone would use PT with all the problems they have had, and the crap they put out with PT3 because they were being forced to try to stay competitive with HEM.
I can't tell you how many DB's I have lost using PT....I have yet to lose a DB with HEM. Product is just so much more stable! Customer support is so much more on top of things, and their forums are very helpful. -
hem
-
HEM available for Mac computers yet?
-
Would either of these be helpful to a micro player?
-
glad i randomly bought HEM over PT without doing any research. Definitely go with HEM, I really like it and have no complaints with the product.
-
HEM for sure. The Leak Buster application software makes it a must. It pays for HEM and itself many times over.
-
yes, can't figure out whats going on

What is the different between PT3 and HEM? I just got back to playing and been hearing about these two a lot. I play mostly 1/2 cash games, maybe some tourney here and there, which of these two should I get? Or both? Thanks for your input.
-
both are free to test out for a week. i like hem better b/c you can easily customize the hud.
-
Got HEM two weeks ago. Love it. Never tried the other one though.

So I know this may not be the most appropriate thing to thread but can anybody help me with the poker manager download. I just tried the free trial and it wont let me do a thing I have tried everything and Im starting to think thats maybe the way its supposed to be until you actually buy it. If so I dont see why they give you this period bc what Im trying to compare is the on table displays to see what Im more cumfy with between it and tracker and nothins helpin. Anybody? Please
-
is this a tournament clock or a tracking software like PT3 or HEM
-
Oh My bad its Holdem Manager Im sorry I dont know what I was thinking. Also do you or anybody recommend one over the other? I would like to use them mainly for cash games but I will try out tournys too
By the way also what is a tournament clock? -
you know for home games, they have clocks that you can enter the structure in and its a version like the casinos have.
I cant help with HEM, but I am sure it should work. Have you tried their forum? -
There is Omaha support integrated in PT3. (separate charge but like 1000 hand free omaha portion trial IIRC)

I've never lost a DB with PT3. (Maybe you were using PT2 which was not nearly as good a product?)Originally Posted by Polar_Bears

I think many people would laud the forum support at PT3 as well - it's very active and they get back to you on trouble items pretty quickly.
PT3 does
They both have free trials. pretty sure PT's is longer. Try them both and see what you like. -
I can guarantee you that most of the people that have posted couldn't "really" tell you the difference between the two programs.....if you are a cash game player, PT is probably better for you...if you are a tournament player HEM is probably better for your needs. That's the easy answer...I have done extensive analysis on both....and they both have there strengths and weakness. If more specific questions arise, I can break it down further for you :)

Well Polar Bear the problem is that I cannot get HEM to work for me during the trial. Its downloaded I just cant get it to do anything. Also all of those different things like the leak tracker and the program that finds all the weak games and the cable ninja etc are these all the things that come with this product or do I have to pay more for those and for each one its real confusing to me for some reason> Its very aggravating. I know I tried the free part of pt3 and the only thing I could get it to do was replay hands back from tables which at the time didnt interest me at all and it made my pc slow as hell so I took it off my pc. One time i was at a customers house and he showed me some stuff on his and he had graphs of his profits and showed me what it looked like when he played adn itr looked awesome he said it was a must for a 25 cent blinds and higher player but Im not seeing it I dont get it I seriously havbe tried everthing I can and went as far as have other people look at it and they cant figure out how to get it to work either. I type in names and it tells me I didnt. I tgell it to scan for weak games and it says I gotta choose a stake but yet it wont let me. Very frustrating for me especially now that ive went everywhere for help 3 nights in a row now too and still havent got anywhre

I played with PT 3 and hated all the trouble that it gave me. Use HM
-
I can't talk about the "free" version with you. What I can say is tracking software is amazing. There are many threads about that argument, meaning tracking software versus not using it. I can tell you after years of use of it, it's absolutely amazing what I can do with the game because of it. What exactly are you looking to do with it? If you just want to demo it to find out if it works for you, I can't probably help you there. Since you probably don't know what your needs are, then I would say get HEM. It's a lot more solid and user friendly for someone just starting out. PT can be very confusing for someone that is just starting out.
Back to my original statement, if you are a cash game player, then PT is more EV long term. If you are like me, which is a MTT and SnG player primarily, then HEM is a better program.
If you are just trying to evaluate the program(s) to see if it is for you, then I can't help you much with the trial version. If you have already decided that it is something you want, then just go ahead and buy the program. Here is a couple of things I can tell you if you decide to buy it:
* Both PT and HEM's forums are awesome to find help. If you buy it and can't get it going, I can assure you that both these companies will respond to all your needs. I don't mean days later either....they are both GREAT about getting back to your post fairly quickly.
* The other thing I will tell you is that don't expect to get either of these programs going, run the HUD, and life is going to be great. It's going to take time and patience to truly understand all the information that is provided to you....and I do mean it's going to take time. The one thing I tell people is get the software, let it run, and don't do a thing with it....just let it run for a while as it's gathering information on yourself. The HUD will start to talk to you after seeing it in front of you all the time, but it won't mean shit at first to you....have patience :) A lot of it took years to really make sense.
Welcome to P5's....if you stick around, maybe I will help you more ;)
GL buddy!
