    Are you willing to chop at the end of a mtt? why/why not? (stacks, opponents, etc.)

    Seeing as I've only had the opportunity twice in non SnG MTTs--and agreed to one time--I'd say the reasons to chop should include:

    1. Are the blinds so high that it's shove time (i.e., will results be based more on luck than skill)
    2. Does the money really matter
    3. Do you feel inferior to your opponent(s), and want guaranteed money
    4. Chip count (and I'd always try and negoiate a better rate than straight up chip count chop, just to see if you can get your opponent on tilt)

    Against a friend - Always.

    Against a random person - only if...
    1) The chop is favorable and is actually greater than my expected value if we didn't chop
    2) The amount of money is life changing in some way

    kevin you were 5 handed and the short stack of the table there. The chip leader wanted to talk chop so chances are you were going to get more than what you finished with. But when you are at a 6:1 disadvantage...sometimes it just makes sense.

    I actually moved up and got more than I would have in a chop. I still will not do a chop again. I have done them in the past, and it feels like I'm giving up. If I finish first I want the full prize. If I finish lower I can live with my decision.

    I'm just looking for people to post their opinion on the topic for others to read.

    Only choped once and it felt dirty, but I had to since it was absurdly in my favor. Other than that, i would only chop vs a friend or if it the chop was tilted in my favor.
