Is it possible to cancel accounts and open new ones?

    I know multi-accounting is illegal but are you allowed to cancel your account and create a new one with a different name? This is why I ask: 1) Ive been playing for years but never took the time to actually learn and improve my game until recently, so i want my stats to start over. and 2) I want to have the same name on all sites.. Is this even possible????

    Having different names across poker sites is the way to go. More difficult to remember off the top of your head that way.

    As far as stats goes, why do you want you r opponents to see that you are a good (or better than you were) player?

    I'd much prefer to have someone think the wrong way about me and make the wrong decision based on that. Also it will only change the immediate way people look at your game, if they use a HUD then your stats across that will change with your style too.

    You could ask the sites for a name change, but you'd need a good reason, and in their eyes you probably don't have one.

    That makes sense. I never looked at it that way. I guess the main reason for the stat reset was bc i was interested in maybe trying to find a backer. but thats a long shot anyway :/ thanks guys!

    well if u wanna get backed, get good, and show them your more recent stats and it wont matter what you did in the past.

    This, but to get a backer (at least one who knows there stuff) you should be able to show how you have improved your game. If you say you've been playing for 5 years but can only show 2 of results, I'm not going to like that as a backer, show me your whole history and i'll get a better idea of what i'm getting into (and you might get a better deal) Use your stats that show how you have improved.

    And backing isn't always the best option. Do you think you can handle being 100 buy ins in make up? (not sure if you'd ever get that deep in MU) remember that they'll want you to make them money. Make sure your deal is in writing and explains different scenarios and restrictions (have a figure for ABI, % withheld from score when in make up and other things that may complicate the deal if you don't sort them out.

    Also remember to get references from your potential backer. They shold be able to provide mnames of others they have backed so you can ask them about their dealings.

    Unless you're getting a backer for 10k live events, skip it...you're throwing money away.

    Dont bother youll get away with it until you try to cash out then they will give you a hard time about your money.
    Dont bother just focus on your game not your stats.

    im backed, and i dont play 10k live events... it all depends on your situation. i actaully enjoy being backed, and being able to just withdraw my profits every week without the worry of depleting my roll.

    you might actually be able to change your name because it contains your last name on most sites. my account on ps was my full name and i got it changed. i sent them an email stating that i wanted to change it because i didn't want my actual name to be revealed.

    thats a good point, too. I'm going to think on it for a while before i try it though. Even though my names aren't all the same, they all have "wray" so that would be pretty easy to recognize anyway.

    wow,, always understood that names changes (screenames) were completely never accepted. news to me.. really?
