  1. I received the following press release this morning from the PPA and definitely wanted to help spread the word. It's a unique opportunity to interact with the new sheriff in town at the PPA, who just appeared on the PocketFives.com Podcast:

    Dear PPA Member:

As the fight for poker continues, the PPA grows stronger by the day. In the past two months, PPA membership has more than doubled to nearly 320,000 members! This exciting growth is pushing us closer to our 1 million member goal.

As most of you know, it was recently announced that three-term U.S. Senator Alfonse D'Amato has joined the PPA to serve as the Chairman of the Board. His decades of public service and deep understanding of the political process will be instrumental in our efforts to ensure that you can continue to enjoy the game of poker in the venue of your choosing.

The PPA is providing a unique chance for you to hear from the Senator and ask him questions about the future of poker. On Thursday, April 12th at 3pm EST the PPA will host an interactive Webcast. The Senator will give you an update of the federal government issues facing poker today and what the PPA is doing to fight for your rights. You have the opportunity to send e-mail questions before and during the Webcast which the Senator will answer live.

Participation is easy and I encourage everyone to be part of this exciting discussion.

If you would like to send a question ahead of time you can send to:<A title=mailto:AskAl@pokerplayersalliance.org target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="mailto:AskAl@pokerplayersalliance.org"><SPAN class=Apple-style-span title=mailto:AskAl@pokerplayersalliance.org>

    Sincerely,
    Michael Bolcerek, President

  2. I hate to be negative, but I gotta say...D'Amato made a lot of enemies up on that hill. Im not sure he carries enough clought to really get anything done. There are a few benefits to having an ex-Senator as a lobbyist though. First, he really knows the process (which is more important than people think) and second, he may still have an ally or 2, and hopefully that person is in a position of power and hopefully that person owes D'Amato a favor!

  3. I think, like him or hate him, he knows the ins and outs of Washington because of his experience and that's exactly what the PPA needs. They need a proven veteran on Capitol Hill who knows what it takes to push legislation through. That's what the online poker industry needs and hopefully D'Amato has enough motivation to push through an exemption or some sort of regulation.

  4. I like the guy (mostly cause Im a conservative) but I wonder if he has the clought to push anything through. I mean, obviously I hope he does! Either way, hes a great champion for the game and its good to have someone familiar with politics and the "real" system of washington.

  5. It says the PPA is hosting, is that where we go on the 12th to see/hear this webcast?
  6. I believe you'll just go straight to the PPA website and then enter there. You need to register (free) first in order to participate, which should provide some additional, specific information for you.

  7. I've been a member for a long time Dan, i got an email today. It just didn't really say where to go. Weird, so non specific. They should have provided a specific link.
  8. I haven't registered for it yet, but I assume that, after your register, they'll provide you with info on where to go.

Remember that you have to register for the webcast ahead of time. You can't show up day of.
