Ever since the last Full Tilt update I have been having problems. The screen locks momentarily or just runs extremly slow for a minute before returning to normal. This happens when I'm playing or just watching. I am running vista on a Dell and hoping someone can give me some suggestions.

Vista is a resource hog. How much ram do you have?
-
Are you running the program as "administrator?"
One of the things VISTA does is have you run as administrator to by-pass some of the internal routing.
Another issue might be where your system is downloading the the program. Is the download administrator program putting the client file in the "programs" directory or is it setting it up in your user account. Make sure the client program is resident in the programs file folder.
To run as administrator do this:
1. Right click the desk-top ICON,
2. Click on "properties" at the bottom
3. Click on the "Compatibility" window,
4. look down at the "Privilege Level" and check box "run this program as an administrator,"
5. Click OK.
This should resolve some minor functionality issues.
If this doesn't work, check to make sure you're running a cache clean-up program and clearing temp internet files regularly. -
Im thinking about getting a new laptop is vista a nono for poker players ive seen a few threads about it now?
-
Buy a laptop with vista then put XP on it before you even load vista. Vista sucks balls
-
get at least 2 gigs of memory and you'll be fine with vista.

I've been running VISTA since June 29, 07. My system has a good RAM and once I found out about running my programs in "administrator" mode, I haven't experienced all the problems I see mentioned on the boards. I run with a good virus/malware/firewall program and keep all my drivers and software programs updated and clean-up my cache/temp files regularly.
I think many of the problems are results of not doing the systems/program updates that come for your platform. -
I bought a Dell laptop with Vista over a year ago. Have had a few minor problems, but overall have liked it more than XP. No problems running pokerstars.
For FTP right-click desktop shortcut and click Properties. Click the Compatibility tab. Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" Click the drop-down and select and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)." This has done a better job of solving my FTP problems than running in administrator's mode. -
Whats the difference between XP n vista ?
-
Different architecture. A bunch of crap that gets in the way.
-
"Run this program in compatibility mode for:" Click the drop-down and select and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)."
Or you could just run Windows XP SP2 which is a better long term solution than MS's buggy compatibility mode -
It sounds like your connection is going in and out. This is what mine does when my connection is acting up. The little "connecting window" doesn't always come up and tell you.
Vista is most likely not your issue, as many people use it daily with no problems. -
"better long term solution" your funny LOL

Upgrade to XP

I used to run Full Tilt in Adminstrator mode on my Vista machine, and had no problems at all. Now that I'ver recently installed the Sharkscope HUD software, I use that program to launch Full Tilt, and I'm not sure how to make it run in Adminstrator mode.
Does anyone know how to have Sharkscope launch Full Tilt in Adminstrator mode on Vista? -
Vista + 2GB Ram + running as admin = no problems at all
-
Ya, I went and got vista with 4 gigs of ram after originally ordering xp then I realized that xp is getting VERY old and switched.
Anyway, with 4 gigs of ram on this dell system I am having zero problems. -
Sorry if I wasn't clear on this...
I don't actually have any problem here except that I can't figure out how to tell Sharkscope to run Full Tilt in Adminstrator mode.
I have plenty of RAM and plenty of computer overall. I just need to know how to tell Sharkscope not to just launch Full Tilt in non-admin mode. -
Hey Chipless
I am not sure 100% on this however if you set the sharkscope HUD to launch in admin mode via the same way - when it launches another application it should also keep its child apps in admin mode as well..
So set the HUD program via compatibility to admin and try it out..
Lemme know if it works -
I bought a vista pc with 4 gigs of RAM also. But i've been told that vista only recognises 2 gigs of RAM. Is this right?
I run ft on vista with no problems.
But on stars I have to click 3 times if more than 1 window is up. Don't know why.
