I just think it's a terrible bet, lets say 5 very good players (you name them) come with 10k each. So basically they give 10k to Gigabet if he beats them all in a month. And Gigabet gives them 20k if just 1 of them (or anybody else in the internet world) beats him. That's just crazy, stupid or both. Or the man is a poker genius, hard to believe, since in this game (because of its nature, especially in tournaments), NOBODY, I repeat NOBODY is so above of the rest. Of course there are so many that think they are, but it's just his ego the one that's so above.

You are turning this into something that it isn't even close to. This has nothing to do with ego, or me being conceited. It has alot more to do with stamina than anything else. It most certainly isn't about "beating anyone" I don't think that way. I never once claimed to be above anyone or "better" than anyone(anyone who has read anything from me understands that is a non-issue for me as well.) This was a random conversation between Sheets and myself about a bet that almost occured a few months previous. I had mentioned that I would still make the bet, and here we are. I never claimed to be the best player to anyone, nor would I ever make such a silly claim. I have won the tlb enough times to know that it just takes stamina and solid play, poker genius has nothing to do with it.

I have done some research (or Artiecat has) and it looks like to be TLB you have to avg 181 points a day. Looking at the formula for earning points it may not be that hard to do. all you have to do is play a ton, drink a lot of red bull, play all games (Omaha etc) and like Gigabet mentioned have stamina. Obviously you have to be good enough to finish in the top 15% of tournies to get points.
I think if Bax played only on stars and played all tournies he could do it. The reason most players are not as high up there is we play on like 4-5 sites.
It will be interesting. I may take the bet and play strictly on Stars myself to see if I could do it. -

I am thrilled by this thread.
This will be a tournament leaderboard race to end all others.
Gigabet, it sounds like some very skilled players are considering taking you up on your bet. Are you concerned that this bet will give these guys the incentive to play just as much as you, making it much harder to win your bet?
Everyone is talking about keeping the egos out of it, but I think many will be ego driven to top you on the leaderboard. Rightfully so, in my opinion - whoever wins this will have major bragging rights.
I think it will be very tough for you to win this bet - that said, I hope it happens and I hope you win just because you've got the balls to make such an offer. We'll feature the TLB race daily if you guys can pull the bet together. -
I am still waiting for Gig to email me to get the particulars down (webcam, no bots, escrow, etc.). I will also offer a $5,000 reward to whomever beats him by the most points in Aug if the bet is completed and paid!!! LET'S DO IT!!!!!!

What is happening???? I said I would take this bet. Sheets says Gig is serious. I would also like to take a bigger part of the $50k. I gave my email. NO response - no email - nothing. We can work the deal on P5's so everyone can play along. I continue to ask to get the deal done but I have yet to hear from Gig at all. Was this a joke??? Are your Egos writing checks your poker skills can't cash??? Or just decided to let this die?? Please just let me know if this is going to happen or not! No problem if you changed your mind, just don't let me hang.

He is very serious. He is playing live today in vegas so he is offlinefor a few hours...hopefully alot.
I imagine he would prefer for one person to take all of the 50k so there are less moving parts.

I think he means that a skilled player is likely to take the bet AND try to beat GIGABET so he doesn't finish top of the TLB.

I wasn't aware that I was supposed to email you.. Set the particulars up with Sheets, or on this board, i don't have time to email you back and forth. I definitely will not allow a webcam to to be recording, that is ridiculous to lose privacy for that amount of money. If you want to bet even money with 500k, you can have 10 webcams. Just about anything else I will agree to, as long as it doesn't affect my privacy too much..

The WCOOP is NOT one event. It is a series of events, just as the World SERIES of poker. GIGABET would have an advantage in the month of August because of this, so it would be better to have it in 2007 then. Jeez!! Just play, we wanna watch!
P.S. - Some of you actually think that someone who makes this bet will play all month to try to beat GIGABET and risk losing thousands in tourney buy in fees and still possibly lose? I say, let the other 160,000 party poker/ pokerstars users try to try to beat him out.
