  1. Are there any pros out there that just love to play and gamble? I know their are some crazy guys like matusow> But what about people who are taking an edge no matter the limits of play?
  2. vvvv good post imho

  3. meee.. play with a 50 k roll on 100/200.. went broke and start all over again.a bit of a change from 100/200 to .50/1 in 2 days ..lol . been there than that. most of the times ,my whole bankroll on the ables. 4 years ago 120k on 2 tables against zweig and laaur2 .went busto..
  4. Ted Forrest comes to mind immediately...but most live pros have lived like this at one time or another. Phil Ivey has said he had his entire bankroll on the table every time he played for a couple of years when he was first starting.

  5. I never had a problem throwing it all in the middle when I was grinding and struggling at lower levels, fully knowing that if I could hit a rush I could have a working bankroll to always back me up with. If I lost, back to square one

  6. ha for some reason i have respect for people like shipit and ivey who have big enough balls to lay it all on the line time and time again, as im way too risk adverse to ever do that.

that being said its a pretty bad mentality imo, im all for taking well calculated shots with your BR and i think alot of people are too big BR nits in that they spend way too many years grinding 5$ sngs with 200buyins etc, but at the same time whenever you have your whole roll on the table your at least 25-30% to go bust, and for most people this % is higher as they will generally be the live one in the game because they probably dont have the experience of the other players and will almost always be scared money. Its hard to call people who put their net worth on the table in each session "professional" gamblers.

(Im not saying Ivey and Shipit are currently like this, im sure both are well rolled for the games they play now etc.)

  7. Got to take chances sometime.

  8. but it was s00ted
  9. runner runner flush gg bankroll
  10. hahahaha
  11. I started reading this guy's blog awhile ago and it is really funny. He has gone bust like 20 times in the past year, a lot of those times busting a 6 figure roll. I just started reading some of the archives and they are the best part.

  12. luckyjimm.blogspot.com is also pretty awesome. He's such a sad dege I cant stop reading. I think he was also a literature major so it's a good read.
  13. I had turned a few $50 deposits into a 10k rolls a couple of times on FT in 05 when the biggest game they had was 50/100NL.

Once I ran so hot I steamrolled a 215 WSOP one seat saty and 7k, turned the 7k into 25k against J Dags 50/100 HU then flipped 50k coin when my AK lost his JJ.

Sickest moment of my life...it was great.

Least I didnt blow my WSOP seat.
  14. you can't lose what you don't put in the middle..
  15. One time I blew my whole roll vs this russian guy, as in my tuition, case money...everything. In my defense though I had just bluffed Johnny Chan in a pot a week before that.

  16. I'm willing to bet at least half of the people who regularly play 100r's are under-rolled (using the 100 bi rule).

  17. i played the $3 rebuy having $20 at 8pm + mid-rebuy-period-re-deposits for a few weeks. it worked out so i highly recommend this strategy. if you have a job just ship the direct deposit online until you make it.

  18. I think the time I won the $3r I had $9.60 in my account, the next day I went pro ldo
  19. this 88% guy is way too funny. wow
  20. poker is more fun when you got ya whole roll in the one game
     1
  21. it was diff. for ivey cause back then they always borrowed money from each other even if he was "broke".
  22. back then? they still do...
  23. I thought i was the only one who has gone bust more then 37 times
  24. LOL goood post
  25. whats a bankroll???
  26. My Dad does!

Holy shit my dad has some bad bank roll management. He does build houses for a living, so he can always replace it, but he always buys in to the games he barely has a buyin for.

    Pop's requirements @ Bellagio:
    40-80 mix = 3k bankroll
    75-150 O8 = 5k bankroll
    100-200 LHE = 6k bankroll
    200-400 mix = 10k bankroll

Now my dad doesnt get to play as much as he would like, and I understand he can replenish it, but god damn!

I will give him credit though, he is a great all around player, especially shorthanded, and the last time I was 'lecturing' him on bankroll management he said to me "If it doesn't hurt when you lose, your not really playing poker." It actually left me speechless, and I haven't given him another lecture since.
