I just got home and saw this mess. Wow.
I want to apologize to the people at PXF. Sheets knows that I have nothing but respect for him, and I hope Bax knows the same. I don't say that about many people and I don't mean it lightly.
I've never met Sheets or Bax in person, but there are very few people who I have more respect for. If I continue to play poker at a high level or even if I move on to other things, I would consider it a great personal victory if I am able to conduct myself with the integrity and honesty that that these two men do.
That video was a joke. My friend Mike was over, and we were drinking and playing poker. I got deep in a 10 cent turbo, and tried to make a mock "serious" video. Clearly I crossed the line. I thought it would be funny to watch and put it on YouTube to send a couple people. I meant for the video to be private, and had no idea that people would be able to search it and watch even if I selected the private option. I wasn't in the best frame of mind and my comments in the video were taken out of context. It really was just a joke, an exercise in analyzing the play of my opponents that I tried to have fun with.
I apologize to those that I offended. PXF is a great learning tool, and I admire JohnnyBax and Sheets very, very much both as poker players and people.
Please understand and forgive.
humbly,
Jeff -
Link to the video? haha
I haven't seen it yet but unless its some horrid personal attack I would hope that no one takes it to seriously. Cant anyone have any fun these days? -
Jeff...you drink? Next he will say he kissed a girl.
-
I think the "I was drinking, and I thought this was a private video" will soon rank in online poker lore behind the Grandma Story. Ultrabright people under the age of 20 who can leverage their talent to make tremendous amounts of money (especially for their age) tend to engage in their fair share of boorish behavior. This is no big deal in the big scheme of things, but I do hope Jeff grows up a touch. Sorry if this seems fellatial to the insulted, but there's a reason why people have so much respect for the grownups who run PXF. And while there is broad admiration for Jeff's play, there's broad suspicion that he's using a portion of his winnings on a Real Doll.
-
OK guys, we get it...jeff is a retard who runs his mouth way too much.
He had a good , sincere apology here now let him be. -
^^^ Rank NY Knights.

It has been pulled from youtube so you can't find it -
Please understand and forgive.
humbly,
Jeff
these 2 words in juxtaposition are the same as writing gank and sober.
(sorry for the cheap shot ganksta :)) -
I haven't heard or seen the video (at work now and youtube is blocked), but I am sure that no matter what you said, it is not half as bad as the conversation Mike had with my girlfriend when HE was drunk, so personally I can forgive you.
However, you represent a brand now. You really have to take that into consideration when you do these things, even if they are jokes (and obviously so)! You might be embarassed right now -- in fact I am sure you are -- but that is not half as bad as the damage you are causing to Cardrunners! I have seen at least three posts of people saying they refuse to subscribe to CR just because of you, Jeff, and I am not the most active member on this board, that is for sure.
I am sure sheets and bax can take a joke (for your sake I hope they can), but you really have to calm down. You're bringing too much heat on yourself. Yeah, people should be entitled to make jokes and cracks and say how they feel (believe me I'd be a very sad panda if I could not crack jokes and say how I feel), but when you've already put your ass into the grease, why jump into the fire? You did your damage control with this post, now it is time to lay low and maybe not post at all for a little while. Maybe send some PM's as apology (which I am sure you have probably done).
Finally, why in the hell would you post this on youtube??? Even if it is marked private and nobody can find it, it's still putting it on the internet. Send it to your friends via email, or better yet, just leave it on your own computer and make it an inside joke between you, Mike, and maybe a couple of others. At least this way, you can deny it's existence, you know?
I know a lot of times I just like to post to mess with you, Jeff (and actually got called an asshole for doing so, ironically enough), but this time I am being serious and perhaps a bit frank, but I do mean well here. You might be a good player, but if you keep this up, when you are finished with your poker career, that is not what you will be remembered for.
Basically, you've abused your privilege to speak your mind and now this forum -- and possibly the poker world in general -- is going to take it away from you by flaming you every time you speak (which, to an extent, has already happened). Keep that in mind.
Just my two cents. Sorry if it's a bit scatter-brained, I'm a bit....well....scatter-brained right now.
GL -
nice apology
-
Haven't we all been drunk and done stuff that we wish we might not have?
-
cmon he was basically forced to make a apology. u really think its sincere?
-
He isn't forced to do shit.
When I was 19 I cleared 6figures a year. I was a cocky SOB that did what i wanted when I wanted and didnt care of the results.
I never apologized for anything.... Until the day I was in front of a Judge.
ActionJeff, manned up and apologized for his actions. He may not be half the man of bax or sheets, but he still apologized. He has a kid with the world on his fingertips, and still delivered an apology where one was due.
lighten up. -
i could care less but im sure he was pressured to publicly apologize for the good of cardrunners and for his own reputation plus he likes attention
-
Let's be honest here:
When you were in front of that judge, were you apologizing because you were truly sorry, or because you wanted a reduced sentence? -
both, but more the latter. didn't work. :(
-
lets really be honest....
i LOVE the +EV ( entertainment value ) aj brings to the game. i am surebax and sheets knows its all good and harmless. MIKE MATUSOW rips onHelmuth but always says he knows Phil is one of the best.
AJ - i think u flat out own ! u dont have to be sorry for anything usay. in fact, i shouldnt comment on this becuz i didnt read past lineone. AJ- dont change a bit, man. this is not a kiss butt post but just someone that appreciates the value of someone like AJ inthe game. this game, this forum and this world would benothing without the witticisims from people like AJ
speak your mind -
"this is not a kiss butt post"
You're only lying to yourself. -
Never does, my man. Never does.
How the hell were you bringing in 6g's anyway? I am assuming that is why you were in front of the judge. Dealing drugs is not the way. -
hell... i dont want to deal with him. say what u want, my reply was not meant to stir the pot. i can hang with anyone here ( at least i think i can ) i enjoy his threads cuz they are truly funny. if you think i am kissing ass then so be it; kiss kiss . i really didnt read past line one yet becasuse line one was all i needed to make what i thought was a decent reply.
actionjeff owns your soul -
Look man, you're trying too hard to get on his myspace friends list. He's not gonna let you. Just forget about it.
-
I'd be surprised if anyone was mad at anyone....its all PR for the sites...the more people talk about them the more likely more people will sign up...and when is it wrong to think your the best and you offer the best product...if he said he sucked at poker and CR blew compared PXF..then that would be controversy. All thats happening now is people will want to sign up to both sites to see which is really better.
-
lol... ok
if he tried to add me, i would slap him -
hard work and good investing. i was in front of the judge because i played as hard as i worked. now im busto.
no dealing drugs, sry. -
I wasn't pressured. I got home at 9 and saw an IM by sheets with a frowny face. I asked him what was up and he linked me to the thread ("oh shit"). I read it through and apologized sincerly.
-Jeff -
cZuke,
I just didn't want people interfering with my personal life and constantly IMing me. I doubt there are more than a few pros on this site who have commited as much time as I have to helping people learn, free of charge. I have answered countless pms and IMs asking for advice or about strategy, answered hundreds of posts giving away strateg, and even ghosted people that I barely know in tournaments, free of charge. I am always willing to answer PMs, I just don't want people that I don't know IMing me on my private AIM. I think that is completely reasonable.
-Jeff
