The company I work with is on the works to launch a new poker site. Gaming License is under way, all the $$$ is ready to go.
I would love to hear from the P5’s community what they would like to see in a new site. Our goal is to launch the best site out there, so all your ideas will be greatly appreciated and taken very seriously.
I appreciate any feedback.
Thanks

** I'm gonna be wraping this up by Sunday night and presenting everything Monday morning, once again thanks for all the ideas. -
With all these poker sites nowadays theres not many ways to get people away from their "preferred" site.
The only way forward to attracting new people is to offer them some type of free "no deposit" bonus such as Pokertime has done offering a free $10 for registering.
This will get the people checking out your site for the sole reason of getting free cash but it introduces them to your new "cool" features which my encourage them to play at your site.
I guess this is the only way you are going to develop a sloid player base with all those sites out their nowadays offering bargains for new players. -
alright...tournament structure like ub, good graphics like ub, high guarantees like stars...lots of tournys for both low and high stake players, good customer support
-
Only one site around now has the ability to fold and show. What I want to see is the ability (for either the winner of the hand or the last person to fold) to only show one card. In live tournament play, people show only one card much more often then they show both cards, so it makes sense for an online site to integrate that into their software.
-
good luck with this, all i can say is make a really catchy name (even tho almost everything is taken already) and make the format really nice and comfortable to play on (center the table, make the cards really easy to see). offer tons of interesting tournaments and make things different. It may not catch on at first, but try ur best to make something different than the rest, in the long run it will pay off if/when it catches on. Good luck, and let us all know how it goes so we can check out the site.

2000 starting chips combined with UB's blind structure...automatic redeposit bonus would be sweet

If you are realy serious about having the best site out there here are my suggestions for the perfect site.. Plenty of low limit games Cash, sitngos and tourneys spread throughout the day. This will attract new players and make it easy for them to afford to play while learning, You need a lot of MTTs from $10 to $100 spread throughout the day. You need to have some very high limit cash tables and several very high buy in tourneys occasonally. That pretty much is everything you need as far as games. While Omaha triple draw and stud should or could be nice , that is not what will draw the highest number of players. I would at least once a month offer the highest buyin tourney on the net with satelites. Another good idea would be to create satelites for Mid level tourneys to increase the fields, Make it where a $5 MTT player could win a seat to a $50 tourney.
Look at pokerstars for customer service, Speed of replys to emails. A phone number would be nice but not as important if the support staff is competent.A good blind structure as Ultimate bet has would be great but you have to have turbos available at times. Make bonuses that are reasonable to clear but make sure the MTT and sitngo players are able to clear them. One of the most important things is that you are able to unregester from a seat won from a satelite. Have a program similar to the $Ts on pokerstars would be OK, but why not if you want it to be the best site just give them the cash if they unregester.
The most important of all things is that the software not only looks right but works properly. Dont create a site that has server issues from traffic. Test test and retest to see if there are software problems such as auto folding or kicking you out of rooms or tourneys. Dont make the customer mad. Make it easy to find other players (player search). Ease of bringing up Hand histories, and stats while playing is important. Make chops possible at final table,, whether by contacting support or have a chop button at the final table on MTTs.
Pokerstars is the closest thing to a perfect site around. Use it as a model. Add UBs blinds, Add some high stakes tables and tourneys. -
defentialy show one card function, thats awesome, add some sort of different side poker game as a nice alerntive to the HE and omaha and what not, maybe just low stakes to see if it catchs on, defeintly have like craps and other casino games, some sort of point system like PS where you get x points and can get a prize. Special tourneys say, that if you hit x hand during the tourney you get say the buy in times 4 or 5. have shootout tournies they are pretty fun, alot of sit and gos high stakes for te high rollers. etc.

Make it so you can decide when you look at your hold cards. Leave the cards dealt flat on the table and when you click on it, they will fold up so you can see what you have, when you unclick the cards go flat again. Make this available so you can see when other people are looking at their cards. This could add another way to read people at the table.

I would like to thank everyone for their feedback so far.
Keep the fresh ideas coming.

ok here's a lazy option...but i like how at stars ya can jus dbl click on someone and the notes section automatically opens up..verses some sites i play at where ya have to right click on their name then scroll down to select notes..pbbbbt too much work lmao!
oh yea and I definitely agree with someone who posted up there that a free cash insentive (spelling) without depositing first sounds good I'd definitely check ya out then...thats how i started playing at absolute and also i started playing at jetset n full tilt cuz they offered cool freerolls with cash prizes for top finishers. -
If I could design a site here would be things I would want in my software (I'm a low/micro limit player)
1. Player centered like at UB.
2. I LOVE the hand history I found at CD Poker. (no reading, it's all there in a quick glance graph.)
3. Tourneys of all price ranges that are freezouts. Too many sites offer only rebuys at the micro/low limits.
4. A good incentive to get me to check it out. CD Poker gave me $20, and 100% match on first deposit. I've been playing there almost exclusively because of it.
5. Freerolls bring in lots of new clients. I love stars for this. Although Absolute is good, as they actually split $50 between top 18, in addition to the qualifiers. Limit freerolls to smaller fields, Stars are too big, take way too long.
6. Make sure it is does not cause conflicts with other programs. Absolute is terrible in that when the screen pops up, whether it be to notify you that break is 4 minutes longer, or cards are being dealt, you MUST click on their screen to minimize it. When i'm in a hand on another table, I want to be able to just wait a minute, not attend to Absolutes game. PokerTime causes my other games on other sites to lag really bad, so I won't play there anymore..
7. Stars has it hands down for customer support. Take a lesson from them.
8. Allow for custom avatars, like Stars does. Makes it easier to remember certain players. I hate nothing more than to see the dumb cartoon characters while playing (such as Tilt does). Makes me feel like it's not a serious game. And poker is always serious!
9. Let the clients know what kind of security measures you have taken to keep my account safe. No site does this, and as I work in information security, it was the first thing I tried to find out. I'm not saying tell us what brands you're using, but most just say, "we use state of the art security". Well, are you running just firewalls, content security, web security, endpoint.. etc. Your security guys will know what i'm getting at. A firewall alone isn't enough.
10. Low limit alternatives, other than just holdem. Only place I can find stud most of the time is Stars. Several sites don't even offer stud, razz, etc.
I'm sure there are other things i've forgotten. These are my two cents as a low limit player. -
whats ur name at cd? i wanna take ur money jking, but ill give you a look up :)

Make it so you can view 4 tables on a 1024x768 monitor (laptop) with no overlap

</span>you do realize it would be almost impossible to see your hole cards right?
Ok for the pokerroom....
I would like to see the hole cards face up in an all in in a cash game. hate having to wait till showdown.
Make sure it is Poker tracker compatible. some people only play sites that allow PT... don't care if you allow datamining or not....
Tournaments
This is where you need to get it right... Ultimate bet has the best structure hands down.... You will need to have guranteed tournaments... with overlays.... if you don't want to have any guranteed tournaments or make them retarded like UB's (never raise them) your site will fail and you should think about investing your money somewhere else.... You should have a TLB gives people something to shoot for. start out with no less then 1500 chips.
Cool things...
you need to give out a sign up bonus.... not an impossible one either or cash game players will not play there..
I would like to see the fold face up feature and showing 1 card would be sick....
Rabbit hunting might not be a horrible idea... i know 1 site does (don't know if i can mention the site or not) Make sure the software looks good i don't want to play at a place that is painful to look at.
A frequent player program is a good thing to have (unless you take less rake then other sites do)
Key things....
1. Make sure there is a reason why i should play at your site.. make it stand out from others.
2. If you aren't willing to lose $$$ at first to get players(like a sick tournament gurantee or something or a big freeroll for people who rake a certain amount of hands in a time period) if not you most likely will never get players....
3. Good support.
4. Fast cashouts.
all i can think of now if i think of more i will post -
1) your software BETTER be on level with stars, ub, ft, dise.....there is no excuses for a new platform not to look as good as these do......examples of rooms IMO where the software is way behind: party poker, PACIFIC POKER, PRIMA POKER NETWORK...
2) one tourney every day for the 'pro player'....a $100+ buy in, with reasonable levels and starting chips (see ub, but be at least as good as stars....learn what not to do at party)....
3) mixed games.....get this done, and you are 'golden'.
4) reasonable limit step up's....a bad example is stars....you go from 10-20 to 30-60 in some games....there should be a 20-40 table, etc.
5) a sunday 'major' tourney.....as 2:00 (bodog), 4:30 (stars, party), 5:00 (dise), 6:00 (ft), and 9:00 (ub) are 'taken'.....7:30 or 10:00 seems like a good time
6) trilple draw will gain popularity, might as well get it in the platform
7) i would not worry about the 'bonus whores' mentioned in this thread....they may bring people to the site, but they are not the players you want ultimately. bend over backwards for the players who actually bring you money. a program like stars is running (fpp points accomplishes that)
8) if you want the sit and go market, you can take it.....it is as easy as going to $100+5 instead of 100+9.....that $4 means a lot to the sit and go pro and they would be crazy not to play at your site
9) along same lines....lower rake at cash games= more daily pro players who realize the value....again this is the player you want -
" mixed games.....get this done, and you are 'golden' "
Yes... Yes... Yes!!!
If you could introduce mixed side games I would definitely check it out. A dealer's choice option would be stellar. It would be tough but possible. Probably a list of 8 or 10 games to choose from including some old-time-kitchen-table games like Stud 8OB Chase the Queen, etc.

Dude: think out of the box... you dont need to just shrink the table... there are other ways to design it so it can be smaller -
Screwy1. Been hitting the $2/20 sngs pretty hard. ITM 3/3 today, with one first, one third, and one fifth.
-
Im in for the idea of resizing tables. The ability to "crop" the the table as you wish. Similiar to watching a movie in windows media player where u can make it 100% 200%, fullscreen etc... it may be very small at something like 100% for example but imagine the number of tables u could fit. forget resolution or size of monitor.
-
find a way to let people change avatars and screenames more often. i suck at choosing names lol.
the more security the better. make me feel safe leaving my money with you.
like gamble said, a rabit hunting option (idk how that works, maybe allowing like one a tourney or something) and the ability show down the card of choice from your hole cards.
it's been said already SUPPORT SUPPORT SUPPORT.
some kind of buddy list. so that you don't have to search for your friends, maybe a list u can scroll down and see who is on, double click and it will take you to their table or give you the opt to choose which tabel...etc..etc..etc..
rewards, bonuses...thank your customers!!! we are paying the rake that pays your bills! -
djinoc.... i'm drawing clueless how would you do that?
-
well for one thing the tables are all really big on all sites. they could make the tables smaller by just 33% points...
they could put the next action buttons in the middle of the table to save space
Lucky Nugget (i think that's part of Prima) already has a table size that works on my laptop.
I think party has one too in beta
