  1. We are chip leader and have been very active but generally not getting much/any resistance. I have shown down the best hand on numerous occasions previously, hence the monster stack.

!FEPIC! running at 23/12 (142 hs) - I think he was 2nd in chips at the time.

When he raises the flop, my read on this player is that he isn't raising draws here very often at all. He had generally been very passive and honest post flop, and I expect him to just flat all his draws here very often. I do feel he could raise some over pairs that he called with pre (perhaps 88s - TTs - can't see him flatting AA/KK), but whether he is going to stack of with them for 40bbs in this spot is questionable as we are so close to FT and he is 2nd in chips.

Therefore, when he 3bets, what options does everyone feel we have?

I really dont like calling here as we are building a pot OOP when we will just have to check/fold often to quite a few turns/rivers. Perhaps one benefit of this play is that the villain will play very straight forward against us. If the turn brings an Ace and he has TT, he will likely just check it back or make a really small bet. If the turn brings a diamond and he did semi-bluff the turn, he will likely just make a huge value bet on either the turn or river.

I don't see how we can fold.

What are your thoughts on making a min 4bet and getting away from it if he shoves for another 200k? We would clearly be beat if he 5bet shoves.

  2. 4bet fold is worst line ever IMO. Turning QQ into a bluff on that board ? I'd probably repop and make him pay for the draw. Not folding ever here.
  3. 4 bet folding QQ on that board would be horrible imo. I am more leaning towards the villain having 77-JJ here. I think a tank 4 bet shove would be best here. He might be thinking since you are the big stack that you are just trying to bully him out of the hand and make the call with his mid pairs.

  4. You shouldn't flat because its such a draw heavy board. Fold or reship here. Are you saying he flats AKdd here? I'm never folding and always reshipping because you're in such a horrible spot if you ever call here.
  5. Ok, thanks. I questioned my judgement here because I feel that this hand was the difference between me coming 1st/4th, but I'm just being results orientated.

I didn't think too much about my 4bet sizing - I like a 4bet shove here actually - but I made it 276k and called off his shove. He showed A4s and I felt like a bit of a donk! But I felt strongly at the time that he could 3bet the flop with weaker pairs (and sometimes draws), and therefore getting it in here was ok. I didn't consider 4bet/f, but I just wanted to get opinions on all options - of course I too hate turning QQ into a bluff here. Next time he shows up with a worse pair/folds/or a draw, and I ship the tourney.

  6. 4bet call seems like a pretty standard line here. UL if you're beat but all i needed to hear was that "you are very active and not getting much resistance" to make this line very std

  7. his raise is 2bet fwiw...its postflop. Regarless, raise getting it in seems fine. 3b/folding is just so bad, turning this strong of a hand into a bluff just sucks. Getting it in seems fine think he gets a decent amount of overpairs in here even if he has been fairly nitty. can call and if he continues think about folding if you dont think hes capable of continuing a bluff if you call the flop. But getting it def seems ok here. unlucky
