I am a solid live player...
I can't seem to follow reads for some reason online.
Example
Wife entered me in some Sunday tourney on UB.
2K entrants, about 200 left
Blinds 300/600
My Roll Around 11K / Not great but hangin
I get QhQd in UTG and raise to 2500
one caller.
Flop is 8h9hTh
I am first to act on flop and bet around 4K into a 5900 pot
Caller reraises another 2500 and is all in....
I still had about 4-5K or so... I knew I was beat, I prolly coulda found another spot. I overvalued my outs for flush, str8t flush etc.... instead of going with my read and called.
He had hit a set of 8's and my hand never improved leaving me crippled.
These kind of marginal plays, laydowns etc.. are what seperate the men and boys so to speak..
I have relied on my read of people and situations for years and this was a toughie either way, but I could have handled that hand a lot of other ways.
I definitely have a harder time "reading" people and situations online.
I know it's just one hand and I really would like someone in EP call my raise with 8's everytime in that situation... it's why I know online leaves a lot of room for profit. But I have played almost exclusively Live for around 3-4 years now as I have more tools.
Prize pools are big online now tho. That sunday one had a pretty good payout.
Anyone else..!? -
I don't think you did anything wrong. You got your money in a slit dog and lost. Betting patterns are 80% of the read online and if you keep trying to better yourself by geetting the knowledge from good players you will rebound. You can t win them all. In the words of helmuth "If it wasn't for badd beats, I would always win."
