  1. Hey guys my name is domine rex on stars. I have been killing 5 dollar sngs (as expected) so decided to calmly move up to 10 dollar sngs.

Well I instantly lose 120 dollars over about 40 of them in one night. Right now my ROI for the 5 dollar games are about 20% while my roi for 10 dollar games is -50%.

There can't genuinely be that much difference between the two can there? Is that a fluke or should I just stick to 5 dollar games?
  2. used to play alot of 5 sngs about 2 yrs ago and then moved up to 10s. I played on FT and did not find them at all different. I think the play is just as bad. maybe drop back down to the 5s and regain some confidence then make your move again? GL
  3. 40 SNGs are a pretty low sample size, but there is a (small) diffrence in skill level, so it might take some time for you to get used to them. I would suggest playing fewer tables until you get more comfortable at the $10 level.

If you continue to run bad in the $10, move down to the $5 again to rebuild some of your roll, and rebuild your confidence.

  4. Yeah I've played over 3k games on FTP and about 2k on stars. I admit 40 is a small size but I can't remember the last time I had a net loss of 12 by-ins over a 40 game period in sngs.

I've basically managed to win the 120 dollars back in one day (running really well in the 5 dollar sngs) and have about 500 dollars again and so theoretically its time for me to try to move up but i'm nervous now.

I'll admit I had plenty of bad beats but I have had bad beats in the 5 dollar games too. Sharkscope me and you'll see a huge dip and a huge climb and that just rarely happens to me (FTP was once only for sngs for me and my name is dtay777 on there and stars was for 180 man sngs) because I play sngs only. I play them to avoid variance like that.

I saw a lot of guys playing multiple tables sitting with me that night as well. Has this ever happened to anyone else or is it really just all in my head?

  5. wanna see a bad sharkscope dip check me out. It happens to alot of people, just keep playing your game and you will be murkin the 10s in no time
  6. There are some pretty bad players that play both of them. I think what you don't find in the $10 SNG's that you find in the $5 SNG are the people that will just "gift you" a double up when you hit a strong hand.

I've flopped sets in the $5 SNG during the first orbit and I've gotten in against players that have no pair and no draw, this doesn't happen at the $10 level.
  7. lol, thats not so bad... check out my last 200-300 games.... weeeeeee i run soooo good lately

yea but are getting the ass to make up for it
  9. i know im gonna get mad heat for saying this, but the people that don't notice a difference in skill level at certain buy ins probably arent profitable at any of them, so of course they wouldnt notice a difference
  10. I didnt sharkscope you but if you are >10% ROI in the 5 sngs you will win in the 10's. Move back up and continue to play your game. 12 buyins over a 40 game stretch is no big deal if you have a proven history of winning.
