question about chipdumping

    3 of us left at a single. Me and the shortstack been arguing whole tournie about how bad each other are. 3rd guy is sitting to his right and has the big stack and sides with the other guy. Smallblind bigstack folds everytime to bigblind shortstack in a situation when any 2 cards play. However the big stack shoves allin on me almost everytime. I finally start calling in first position so bigstack cant just fold his small blind to the shortstack. I finally have shortstack dominated and of course as fulltilt goes he hits a 3 outer on the river to stay alive. A few hands later Im in a hand with bigstack and hit a straight on the turn and go allin and of course he calls and hits the 3 outer to hit a bigger straight on the river. Now I know this is not that big of a deal and the money doesn't matter. My question is this, isn't that chipdumping when bigstack smallblind continually folds to shorstack bb just because he sides with him in an arguement at the table? He was protecting him and trying to move him up a spot because he didnt like me and thanks to two 3 outers hit on the river he was successful.He would fold every blind to the shorstack and shove on all of my blinds. Im just curious to other peoples thoughts on the subject.

    Wait, so in a 3 handed game, you weren't shoving your button like every time?

    is this a 9 max or 6 max? If six max the big stack may be keeping shorty around to extract more chips from you, good strategy actually....If 9 max you weren't doing your part to abuse the bubble as well....other than that why argue at a table and get yourself in these situations? Just click on notes or status and don't mind the chat

    This was a 9 seater. The villain put all his chips in on a draw and of course hit the river and later on in the tournie when I was bigstack i tried to knockout a shortsack who went all in and I called with 55. Shortstack had 99 and this caused the villan to start the shittalking about my play and so i started giving it back to him about his. So when we got down to the final 3 the other guy started protecting the villain and dumping his small blind to him. I just wonder if this is considered chipdumping.

    Definition of chipdumping:

    Intentionally losing chips to another player for the purposes of cheating. This subterfuge is not permitted online and is ethically questionable

    If the big stack knew what he was doing, he may have been keeping the shortstack alive so you couldn't call, thus grinding you down for the easy win.

    I'm not saying that is or isn't what's happening here but that's a typical and effective chipleader's strategy at times.
