  1. This is an 11+ Sunday Million satellite. There are 8 to go and 6 get the prize. I am currently in 6th place. I have been trying to work on my satellite play since the ME satellites are right around the corner. I have consistenly been doing fairly well in these sorts of torneys, but I believe this is a leak in my game. I understand that best case scenario, you never want to get all your chips in the middle during a satellite. However, this is a very active table. Anyone who attempted to just "raise" (minus the big stack) was getting re-shoved every time. I believe that if I just raise here, I am going to get shoved (even not knowing their hand) 75% of the time. Right now I am no way secured a seat. What would you do in this position? Should I have open folded? Should I have raised and then folded to her shove? Should I have tried to limp? OR - should I have played it as I did and just ended up UL in a race? Also, is it +EV to make this all in call with 99? Any input is greatly appreciated :) Thanks

  2. Well, you can last about 3 orbits if you just sit and blind out, if you want to go that route, but chances are this is a great spot to pick up chips IMO....Obviously the other guy wants to risk 19k of his 25k stack on a coinflip...UL it held
  3. Shove everytime.... that is all...
  4. pretty standard - you can't really raise and fold here, and since it is Blind v. Blind you only have to get past one player. pretty standard shove and also standard call - I would call with pretty much any pair above 44 and Ace-face. HOWEVER since you are 6th and 6 get seats (and CL is sitting out) it's probably better to play super-tight here and just complete pre-flop and fold to his certain shove, esp since the other two shortys will be in the blinds in a couple of hands and will have to play for all their chips sooooon, and you should be able to out-survive them. very very tough spot.
  5. i agree with that guys ^ second option, just complete and then fold, theres no reason to risk going broke when there is another player pretty much on the ropes and another a fair bit behind you in terms of chip stacks. Satellites are about getting a seat, you are currently in position to get a seat, i don't think you should risk your seat on a marginal hand like AJoff.
  6. In the long run, you'll pick up the blinds and antes here with your push. You made the right play since you didn't feel like you could slide into a seat. (Since I'm a nit, I'd consider folding here because I believe I'm in pretty good shape to get a seat...but that's a whole different issue.)

As far as calling with 99 goes, it is +EV for the same reason your push is +EV; both beat the range of hands the other could hold (ie your AJ beats a random hand, and his 99 beats the range you could push with here).

In a satty though, I'd fold 99 with his stack in this scenario because I don't need to win the tourney...I just need a seat. With a 25k stack in this position, I'd just fold to a seat unless I obviously have a monster holding or my stack starts to dwindle in relation to other stacks.

    Hopefully that answers your question.
  7. Thanks for all of the responses. I almost just completed and then folded to the shove, but I felt that if I shoved here, that the other guy would really only be able to call me with AA or another monster since he is basically borderline guaranteed a spot, my stack could cripple him, and there were two other shorties. I go out of a lot of tournaments like this, so I wasn't so sure the shove was as standard as I originally thought it was.

  8. Isn't that a standard shove and a bad call? How can calling off with 99 here be a good call?
  9. It's a +EV play against the OP's range, but it's most definitely a bad play on the satty bubble.

Edit: Sorry for the confusion here. I was talking about the call with 99.
  10. "It's a +EV play against the OP's range, but it's most definitely a bad play on the satty bubble."

    No... Wrong...

Shove every time... Unless you beleive he will call you with K9+ Ax+ 22+ Which he shouldnt.. In fact he should probably only call you with AA or KK maybe QQ

Allmost allways u need to shove here... Forget that u had Aj... If he is reasonably tight as he should be u should be shoving ATC...

The way i look at it if u pick up this pot you can sit back and wait till
    A. You are short again
    B. The others get eliminated and you get a seat.
  11. This is a tough one. I have no problem with your shove although I doubt I shove there. His call is reall loose and a hugh leak if he plays alot of sattys (I have seen him around latley)

Wiskers is really short stacked so I would wait till he gets knocked out before making a move like this. The other short stack will be blinded in before you so I think ZI would tend to just fold here.

If this table is as active as you say it is then someone will make a mistake or get sucked out on.

In this spot I would sit tight a look for the others to take each other out,
