  1. Hey Adam. i read your tournament strategy article for sng. I tried to use it, and had marginal luck with it. it may be the players i'm playing against or most likely me. Is there any other alternatives you can suggest to be successful at sng, or is there any one who gives lessons for a decent price. I would really appreciate any help.
    thanks ocon
  2. I'd be happy to talk to you about although, there will be no price. I can tell you what works for me. AIM is Schiffy123.
  3. Hey ocon, I think one thing I didn't include in there is playing position early in a sng. I will often play a big more aggressively in late position, even without one of my top 4 hands. PocketFives.com programming wizard, Riley Bryant (who's actually also a fantastic STT player), pointed this out to me today that this is something I didn't really get into in my article. Sometimes, all i do is limp on the button with a hand like K T or A J if a couple other people are in and try to feel things out on the flop. I want to have around 1.5x the amount of chips I started with by the bubble period, so I do like to win at least one decent pot if not a few small ones before that point. Sometimes you just don't get that AA or KK early on, and you have to manufacture a little bit. What I DON'T like doing is bluffing OR playing big pots with marginal hands OR chasing expensive draws in the early part of a sng.

    I hope this helps.

    Adam

  4. couple things ive picked up in these low dollar sngs:
if someone checks into you after raising the blind watch out, if they bet very little, they think this is somehow a way of tricking you into reraising very big. If they raise big, they prolly have AK with no A or K on the board, or better, A Q....generally some garbage. In these things, everybody seems to have a hardon for an ace. (and UB seems to flop an awful lot)
Ive also found a lot of success in calling preflop raises in position with odd cards...i like q 6 suited for some reason...theres a time and place and opponent for various moves, but keep in mind in these sngs, as with poker in general, its all about position
