1. First let me say that this site is great. Using some of the things I have learned from posts, blogs and articles I just managed to make my first final table in the UB $20 - 6 Seater. The best advice I got from the site was "play to win." I used to play to make the $ and it cost me.

Now onto my question.....at the final table I found myself uncertain of how to play, particularly how much to bet. I ended up fifth, but believe I could have been higher if I was more sure of my bets. The vast majority of my experience has been with STT, but I wasnt sure if it was right to play the same way at a MTT final as in a STT. In particular, I have heard people say that a standard raise pre-flop is 4XBB, but when this is a significant portion of everyones stack is it still the right play?

Maybe I just need to get used to playing with giant stacks...and hopefully I will have lots of chances do so in the future.

    Thanks for the site guys.....

PS One guy at the final table beat me every hand I played...i don't know if this counts as bad luck, but to get into the spirit of the site F beanie.
  2. When at a final table, I try to play as if it is a sng. Moving up is important to the amount of cash you make, so some caution is advised. But, sometimes you'll see the giant stacks bullying the tight table. When this occurs, I loosen up a bit and play to the big stacks. At that level, a couple of wins gives you a big stack. Then, you can be somewhat more aggressive- but beware that the others are looking to take you down, so don't risk too much on a draw. Of course, if you read the H0 links, some top players will run with any reasonable cards and this unpredictable nature of their game makes them very very tough. But for a "newbie" I'd recommend caution at a final table- but not fear. GL
