    This situation has come up for me a couple times in the last couple of months so I was curious: What do you do when people ask your occupation when you are at the bank pertaining to opening up investments, mutual funds, etc. I am never sure if you can bite the bullet and say 'professional poker player' or 'professional gambler' or just make up something like 'self-employed with real estate work' or some BS. Anyway, hope to hear what other young pros do when they run into this. I know my bank is very curious about a 21 year old with a six figure net worth.

    'Self-Employed Software Developer' works great.....your office is in your home.....you have many small clients and you work 10 hours per day in front of your computer screen....DON'T mention poker......

    Self-Employed Software Security Developer working mainly within the banking industry.

    If they ask for more information, say something along the lines that

    "you help develop the encryption software that ensures the online
    banking industry uses when transferring funds from one acc't to
    another"....simple enough, but technical enough to ward off any
    other probing questions.

    This covers the overseas bank checks(if snail mailed), and the
    online transactions that take place.

    Though IMO, Porn Webmaster would be a cool cover also...and to
    see the reaction of the 58 yr old bankteller would be priceless.
