I keep hearing people say that winning 4Big Blinds per 100 hands is considered a successful session. When i play, it's usualy for only 100 hands so as not to get fatigued and off my game. I play .25/.50nl and i would consider winning $10 in an hour (100 hands) pretty successful, not very successful. That means i am making 20BB/100, which according to the 4bb/100 standard is SUPER successful.
Now i know i am not an amazing player yet, but it still does not seem like an accomplishment winning $10/hour... about what i would make working at a pizza shop like most of my friends do.
For example, when i hit a hand its not unrealistic to win atleast $3 at .25/.50nl. Now assuming i hit big hands (or at least big enough to win the pot) 4 or 5 times in an hour, that adds up to about $14/hr. + winning hands from a simple continuation bet = a total of $18/hour. + a few steals = a grand total of $20/hour. Allowing myself to lose $10 in missed hands and whatnot which is a reasonable amount. Leaving me up $10 as previously stated. (this all doesn't include the fact that at .25/50nl there is a shitload of donks who you can easily trap for all their chips)
So my question is, why is 4BB/100 considered successful? i would consider winning $2/100 at .25/.50 a waste of time. Does that figure only apply for higher stakes where the competition is tougher? Or maybe i misunderstood and it only applies to when ur multitabling 4+ tables?
Anyways, interested to hear what you all think about this. Also, THIS IS NOT A BRAG POST. It will be a shameful day when i brag about making $10/hour so save ur fingers some energy and please dont flame that.

If your 10+ tabling 4bb/100 at .25/50 its not a waste of time

So by multitabling 10 my expected profit should decrease 80% on each table?

Also BB is not Big Blinds, its Big Bets which = 2 Big Blinds, term was coined when Limit Hold'em was big. So in this case it would be 8 Big Blinds/100 hands. Which, in your case, would come out to $4/100. But like it was noted before, if you multitable it will increase your profits per hour. When I first heard this I also thought it was low, but you also got to think if you take a really sick beat in a big pot, you will have a negative BB/100, thus lowering your overall average BB/100. Hope this helps.

Play 50,000 hands and you will realize that 20bb/100 is unrealistic. Sure alot of nights you can make that over 100 hands, but you will have nights, and sometimes longer stretches of losing. Obv you will have hot streaks of winning as well... In the long run given a large enough sample size you will not make 20bb/100
So IMO play 50,000 hands, and you will have your answer.
