okay, say i make like 1500$ from poker then cash out 1000$ for safety reasons. I never actually plan on spending it i just would rather have it in my bank account than online. Then i turn the 500$ into 1500$ again.
Now my question is can i say my bankroll is 2500$ and play within that roll, or should i play within the 1500$ roll? -
Do you still consider the money you withdrew to be money you will spend on poker?
-
yes i plan on saving it for poker and poker only, unless obvious if there is an emergency. I feel its hard earned money (grinding the low levels makes it hard work lol) and i dont want to spend it on regular things. I'd rather spend the money from real work and save my poker money.

YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOO
if u got 1500 in your acct. u can start steppin up the mtts u play on bodog. i used to supplement my mtts with sngs just to keep even if i was on a loosing streak. But once u hit a big mtt its a big payday....bodog has the best entryfee/opponents ratio so you dont have to pay much to play but u also dont have to wade through 1000 players to win either. GL dave i think u can start makin a moove to higher levels now! -
Sounds like you already answered your question. If it's money you plan on using to play poker, then it's part of your bankroll.
You really don't even need to earmark it necessarily. So long as you know that you have a certain amount of expendable income you're willing to invest, it's not necessary that you have it all at your immediate disposal at any given time.
I don't really ever invest what I would consider my "bankroll" into a site. I'll buy-in at $150 here, $300 over here, cash-out some. I'm almost always playing "above my bankroll" when you look at the amount of money on the sites themselves, but my "virtual" bankroll, that is, the money I'm willing to invest as needed to continue to play, is much larger. Luckily I have't had to worry much about it because I do more cashing-out than I do buying-in. -
haha i know nick... i really should be moving up, i know i can handle the competition and i do have the money. I just basically need to grow a pair, and if i say that extra 1000 i cashed is part of my roll, then theres more excuse to move up.
thanks for the replies, im still looking for that one big score so that i can move up for good.

Well, there are 2 things in moving up, you need the bankroll, and you need to be ready to move up. So, even if you have the bankroll, don't let others rush you. The higher levels aren't going anywhere, go when your ready.
On the bankroll question, I fully agree. If it's earmarked for poker, it's part of the bankroll, just in a different account (hopefully earning interest). This is actually what everyone should do. You should keep as much as you need for play in your account, but why risk extra money that your not going to need anytime soon in the account.
Think of it this way. Say your bankroll is 2K, and you only play live. Do you always buy 2,000 worth of chips every time you go. No, you bring a couple hundred, but you leave the rest at home. It's still in your bankroll, it just isn't with you today.
