  1. Couple of friends who I play poker with once a month are interested in playing online. They want to watch me play a few SNGs to get a feel for it.

I'm a much better player than they are because I've played online so much but they just play once or twice a month but both have reasonable insticts and a basic understanding of the game.

Inevitabily they would give advice and thoughts while watching me play.

This feels a bit dodgy to me - it certainly wouldn't be allowed in a live game. Anyone think it is OK or have any suggestion for teaching people how to play online whcih wouldn't be unethical.
  2. It happens all the time, and I don't really see a problem with it. In a live game that guy could have been sitting behind another player looking at his cards the whole game, online everyone gets the same information.
  3. ^^^^ True, and not to mention I've never heard of any site having a problem with it.
  4. Yes, this sort of thing is fine (ethically, 'legally' etc )
  5. Thanks guys. Good to know.

  6. Well, I will sometimes play while having friends watching, and they will comment on my hands and such, but the ultimate decision is my own; plus, I'm better than they are, and I wouldn't necessarily call what they ever say "advice."
  7. I sometimes watch a buddy of mine play and give him my thoughts on hands after they are over via AIM. I don't see a problem with what you are doing at all, as long as your friends aren't at the table with you while they are looking over your shoulder :)
  8. hey:

When realpokertraining.com first "opened" their virtual
doors as the first online video poker training site, there
was a big debate here over whether that was ethical.

Soon after the debate spilled over into whether teaching
somebody online by "ghosting" them was ethical.

I've been doing that since I started playing online about
6 yrs ago and not only do I find it much better for my students,
    but also for me.

When they came out with online poker, they opened up the
gates for this and it is too late to close them now.

So my reply is - go ahead and have fun. And even if you do take
one of your friends' advice, don't sweat it.

Now if you want to all play a sng together and tell each other
what cards you have, etc. then you may have a problem ;o)

If we ever did find ourselves at the same table I think I'd be extra keen to beat them.

I don't know what my integrity's worth but it sure as hell is more than $5.50 ;)
