Id wait a couple of weeks to see if you will even be allowed to play online poker in the states =/
-
You should have enough money saved that you don't have to cannibalize(that is take from, just noticed you said english wasn't your first language) your roll. You should have enough savings to be able to pay the bills a couple months if poker doesn't go well.
If you're not happy with your job and it's killing your body(not sure what that means) then you should consider quitting your job and looking for a new one anyway even if it isn't poker.
You say you want to make 150 dollars a day and you have a healthy roll(I'm guessing 20 or so buy ins to 1/2nl) it seems well within your grasp but you have to remember that some days you may lose 300 and that is the stress involved in playing poker for a living and having no other source of income.
You also say you don't have an education, it's not too late to start getting one. -
I live en EU:)

"If you're not happy with your job and it's killing your body(not sure what that means)"
He probably means he's breaking his ass at some shitty manual labor job. -
First you should go out and find yourself a great rake back deal, you can message me for several examples. A rake back account will essentially give you back an hourly rate for your play. After that I suggest finding a part time job that you enjoy. Even something like best buy or a cashier somewhere will do. The part time job will take off some of the pressure of having poker as your sole source of income.
Secondly you should give your self some structure. I find I play much better if I get up, go to the gym, eat something and then begin to play. I have also set up stop loses where after I lose X amount I get out for the rest of the day. This prevents big loses that can set you back half a month or more in one day.
I hope this helps, JeepRounder -

Don't let the mods here see you saying that, they mite ban you like they gave me a 2 week ban. Rake back is a dirty word on this site.
Before going pro you want to make sure you have a consistant winning record over a big sample size. Ie. is your win rate over a large sample high enough to support yourself. Just because you have run hot over a few weeks/ months that isn't good enough justification to leave a job on, for all you know you may be a long term losing poker player.
Also, you need a solid bankroll, the 20 buy ins suggested is no where near enough for someone relying on poker for income, you need to look more at something like 40-45, becasue if this is your job you need to bring any chance of going bust to a minimum. Also you need to prepare yourself to handle far bigger losing days than 300 in a day, losing 1500 in a day at 1-2 is very realistic for a solid winning player, its called variance.
I reccomend working on multitableing, using pokertracker and pokerace HUD, and keeping your job until you have a big sample of hands that you know you can win at a high enough rate to support yourself while using these winnings to build an adequete bankroll. -
Edals. sir, are you retarded?
-
JeepRounder - I'll PM you later when I get home okay?
B.Stern - A sample.. well.. I have played for years, and from the first couples of 100$ deposits, I've had my roll peak at 21K, cashed out some - but now have it at 10K. I could collect a large sample, but that would just give me a lot of info I believe I already have - just not written down. -

by far the most helpful post of them all... -
This is where pokertracker helps. It takes the guess work out and gives you fact.
-
Well, he said he had a healthy roll which I just guessed was around 20 buy in's. He says a 10K roll which is about 50 buy ins at 1/2nl. Damn, 1500 I'd cry myself to sleep with losing 7 1/2 buyin's, guess that's why I only two table.
You don't mention whether you have any savings to pay for living expenses in case you have a losing week/fortnight/month. Oh yeah, and do what he says. -
^^^^question of the year
-
Hmmmm, I worry when you say the word "easily" here. How much do you make an average day here? You have to remember that your going to have losing days. Your going to have losing days, possibly losing months.
Playing poker seems great, but will it be fun after a few losing days when you have bills on the kitchen table? You definitely need an emergency fund with 3-6 months of expenses covered.
I also agree with the others that say a part time job. At least with a part time job, it'll give you 2 things. On losing days, at least there is something coming back in. It will also give your life some structure. It gives you an excuse to get away from the tables and clear your head.
What your real issue might be is that you just hate your job. Maybe you should spend more time getting an education and getting a better job than trying to scrape out a meager living through poker.
Off topic, why is rake back a dirty word here (honest question, I don't want to get banned, I love the site). -
My rules that I'm following before I can choose poker as my primary income are:
1- I will get my JD and MBA still, I want to have insurance regardless of what I choose to do.
2- Pay off all student loans
3- 50-60K in the bank to live on for the year (nothing luxurious but enough) in case I don't win any more.
4- 50K to play on for the year in case I don't win any more. (damn that would be a bad streak)
If I don't keep moving on to the point I can take money for investment purposes, then I go back to the working world.
Just to let you know, the hardest part is not spending the money you are winning.
Also, remember ALL of the expenses and create a year long budget for determining how much to take out of the BR to live on. -
Get a part time job instead, or demote yourself at your current job to part time.

Thanks for all the anwsers, appriciate them A LOT!
Most are negative though... if I take out the European Pornstar question, that is +EV, that would be SO cool:D
-Most seem to be if I'm sure it's that solid.. but if I take the last 11 months, I haven't had one month without(if I put the numbers together) where I didn't make what I need pr. day...
I have savings and all that, (The country where I live, medicin, doctors and aaaaall bafle that is free) And my savings would cover OVER a year of bills...
