Ok, so question for you guys, because I was really thinking about this. The last few days I've just been randomly playing in some live tourneys and cash games at my College. Now a lot of kids at my school, like a lot of people who play poker "think" they are good, but most of them are REALLY clueless, can't get them off any hand, it's just beyond absurd. But heres my question. I have seen some of the worst players I have ever seen in my life these last few days of in person play, which made me wonder, if you just took 1000 random live players, vs. 1000 random online players, who do you think would have the edge? I mean I know and always thought there were a ton of donks online, but playing live, I think you get a whole other level of unexpeirened players, who have watched the WSOP a few times, and know a few random facts (ala 72 offsuit is the worst hand) and love to brag about how they know that. Random Discussion, but I was just wondering what you guys thought, if the avg. live player is worse than the avg online player.

Well...
Clarification plz. Would this tournament of 1000 random lives vs. 1000 random online be online or live? lol.
I ask this for a simple reason.
I think online, it would, in my opinion, be nearly even. Since you said that these are all picked completely at random.
If it were live, and these online players NEVER play live, then I would obviously give the edge to the random live players. -
ive played primarily live for the better part of this last year, somewhere around 60hrs a week, and i have seen some of the worst plays in the history of poker over that time span, in this same time span of of a year, ive plrobably played less than 100hrs of online poker, with that said i think that it depends largely on what stakes the players play, i would say that the avg. player at 1-2 or 2-5 is probably gonna be better online, alot of people at casinos are just there to give their money away unless they catch an insane rush. overall i think i would have to say that the avg. online player probably has a broader tool set at their disposal than the avg live player thats on vacation just trying to get drunk for free and have fun.

Seriously, the online players A. see a shitpot more hands per week, B. Imo, the online players take alot more effort to try and learn the game.
IMO theres no comparison the online players are better. I mean dont get me wrong there are plenty of clueless players online. I would guess maybe 35 out of a hundred online players know what theyre doing, while maybe 20 out of a hundred live players do.
I am obv talking about the very low limits that I have experience with. Such as $1/2nl and
$4/8 fixed live -
Ya, thats what I was thinking to Ace Catcher.....

I play live at the Hard Rock in Tampa from time to time. There is no question the quality of play there is far inferior to the play online. I think the bottom line is if you play online you see alot more hands per hour played and you play alot more hours per week if you play online as well.
It makes me ask the question, is it better to multi table with a lower ROI due to the better competition, or play live, single tabling of course and slower tournaments, but a considerably higher ROI?
