Spent the past week here in Vegas (two days left as I type this) and have had an absolute blast.
Got a chance to watch the WPT final table live -- great job Devin! Yesterday I sat next to Stan Weiss at a 10/20 game at The Mirage; seems like a real class guy. I'm sure it's been posted, but he said he won a satelite into the 10K event and won a $500 event for over 100K right before the main WPT event; so this guy is for real. As for online poker, he said he played on UB a few times, but 'internet poker is set up for so many bad beats,' he said. WPT champ calling online poker rigged; classic.
For tourneys it seems Caeasars Palace has the best tournies. Noon is a $80 plus $60 (may be off slightly), and the 7 p.m. is a $120 plus $100 add on. They call the add on a rebuy, but you only get one and you can use it from the get go. 4K in chips to start and long levels which give you a decent amount of time for play. However, the cocktail waitress in the poker room at Caesars may be reason enough to stay away ... no joke, the tourney director told me they were hired in '67 when the place opened and the hotel can't fire them ... think your grandma in a mini skirt and sleevless top showing clevage.
Met bodgog ari's landlord, which was cool. He's a good guy and probably the most proud landlord I've ever met : )
Also met denny lemiux at the WPT and several P5 lurkers (like myself). Great meeting everyone and look forward to some more good times for the WSOP, which I'm in for the main event (bodog) and a 1.5K event of my choice (tilt).
Vegas, it's awesome! -

Update: just got back from Ceasars tonight and in my fourth try I took down their tourney for a little over 3K. I was down to as low as 900 chips (from the 4.5K starting stack). At the final table was some guy who won a WSOP bracelet in a 3K buyin event in 2004 ... I didn't know him, but other people at the table said they recognized him. The more I play in these tournaments the more I realize there are a lot of pros and semi celebrities that play in them.

Did anyone see The Office finale last week? The most underated part (other than Toby's speach about why kids weren't allowed at the party) was Kevin talking about how he won a WSOP bracelet.

I tied to explain to my wife how funny it was that it was deuce - seven lowball too. She doesn't follow poker so she couldn't understand what an obscure reference that really was.
