The previous hand, I raised it up from the SB with K6ss, the villian called, and folded when I led out with a c-bet on an A high flop. This is the next hand, I felt he could have been defending against the c-bet and felt I might have some fold equity. Is this just a terrible play? Results in ghost text.

not really a bad play because you outs for your flush. You had to think you were a underdog after discopoker called your initial raise and his raise to 1800.You could have called if you think he was defending the c bet. Then checked if no club hits. If he bets at this point you know you are beat and you can pick a better spot to push.

Well i think its a pretty straightforward hand...once he check raises u..u have to assume he atleast has top pair..and in a 2 buck game i doubt u have any fold equity...So when ur shoving u have to understand ur drawing to ur gutshot + flush and that u will be called...
-
I did lead out weak knowing that I was going to shove if he raised. Of course he boats up on the turn and I'm drawing dead >:o
I probably didn't have any FE, these plays probably work better in later stages of MTTs, when payouts become significant and people become more afraid of busting.
So, probably not a leak, just ul? -
No this hand was played quite horribly post flop. Why bet after he checks and why bet so small? If he isn't leading out with 2 pair on a very drawy board chances are he isn't folding top 2 after your flush or straight hits the turn. Why shove all in after he check raises you, what hands could he possibly have in this spot?
-
I could have checked behind on the flop, but I decided to put out a small bet to look weak and try to induce a move. When I threw out that small bet I had already decided I would push him all in if he check raised me. I did this because he had done nothing to define the strength of my hand. I think he will lay down a lot of hands there because of this and even if he has a hand that he can call with, like top two, or a set, I have the gutshot and the flush draw.

Difficulty LVL 9.0, judges Score 4/10. This is a $2.00MTT, Once he Check/raises U, alarm bells should fire that villian is strong. You did have outs with the Flush, but as far as getting this guy to fold because you have FE is a mistake at this Level (Micro). Once most people re-raise at these LVLs they are strong or NOT going anywhere even with maginal hands. Which is still ahead of your 10 high. Poor Play IMO at these Levels. I really think you out thought yourself on this hand.
-
Yea the only reason I played this hand this way is because of the previous hand which I had just played with the villian. I thought by taking my line I could get the villian to play back at me with a marginal holding, which he would then fold if I came over the top. Turns out he flopped a great hand, I was still 60/40 on that flop, but you guys are probably right, probably too fancy for this level, its probably best to just play ABC and hope to get lucky
-
When he re-raised U he did "define" his hand. And why would you want him to make a move when U have 10 high. You had lots of outs and Gambled, thats it. But gambeling is not a reason you gave as to why U played the Hand in this Fashion. You asked if it was a good Re-steal, which at the $2 Level it really isn't.
-
I said he hadn't defined MY hand. I was trying to get him to play back at me with a marginal hand that would then fold to the push.
-
You well and Truly out thought yourself, I belive this same move would be more successfull in the "bigger" games with more skilled players that would more likey check re-raise as a steal. Not many average skilled people in the $2 games make these types of bluffs, They are more likley to Jam it all in OOP as a bluff than Check Raise.
-
Preflop I think is fine. Post flop I have no problem with the cbet. A check behind isn't a bad play either. The check/raise definately should have sent off alarm bells. That being said, you can't put him on 2 pair exactly. I think it's read dependent. This play can work at this level.
I think I probably check behind and take a free card on this flop. If I have a read that says this player is weak then I might take a stab. I think I'm only taking your line if the SB is a crazy spewtard who calls too much with random hands. -
