Raymer out at Pokerstars?

    Greg Raymer appears to be out as a Pokerstars pro. I was directed to a link on 2+2 discussing it, and he's not listed on the website as a pro anymore (http://www.pokerstars.com/team-pokerstars/).

    I'm sure this will undoubtedly turn into a "omg Raymer sucks/why doesn't pokerstars sponsor more online players" thread, but this is pretty big news, in my opinion. Raymer has been a great ambassador to the game, is very recognizable to the general public due to ESPN and is generally friendly at the tables, especially compared to other pros. Interesting development, any legit insight into why they made the move?

    edit: First bit of speculation that I've seen on twitter is from Kathy Leibert, who said: "I heard that Pokerstars was cutting many of their team pros compensation. Take it or leave it. Raymer left it."

    stars would cover his buy ins for any tourney in the world , but when he stormed in and demanded for them to cover his take out expenses..... Stars had to draw the line

    I hope he bounces back...in terms of poker prominence. But lets be honest there are so many young up and coming poker players that are simply much better at the game than a lot of the 'tv poker faces' that we all got into in 2005. I really dont mind if someone like Raymer gets released from a site especially if they replace them with someone young and fresh. Someone who crushes on the regular online and live > someone who one the main event.

    sat next to him during west palm beach circuit. very very nice guy to everyone at the table, and a great ambassador for the game

    Tune in to Dennis Phillips radio show and listen, he actually has a great head for the game. He's just not over the top like a Negreanu and others. I'd rather watch Phillips play than Moneymaker.
