Hi All--
I am not a rep of AP nor do I consult or work for them but I just wanted to clarify why the WSAP promotion came down. The WSOP has very strict rules about how US Facing online sites can use their name or imply an association with them. Here are the rules: http://www.worldseriesofpoker.com/pd...guidelines.pdf
AP was alerted that the promotion was in violation of these rules and so immediately took it down to remain compliant. No one in the new management of AP wants to violate any rules or piss off the WSOP.
I hope that clears that up for you guys.

It doesn't say anywhere on that page that you can't call your promotion "World Series of Absolute Poker".
If they were worried about the name overlap, why didn't they just rename it instead of scrapping the whole idea?
cough *bs* cough. -
Couldnt have just changed a few letters , they had to cancel the whole thing? Keep trying u might get 1 somebody would believe...

good point

If AP and UB are really owned by Tokwiro (aka Joe Norton) doesn't your paycheck come from the same owner? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokwiro_Enterprises

yeah, this is still stupid. all they had to do was change all their pages to say, world championship of absolute poker, absolute poker championship, or 'insert name here championship.
-
Its kinda scary how unaccountable all these poker sites really are.
They answer to basically no one. Pull whatever shit they feel like with little to no consequences whatsoever. -
No, all the sites. We're just lucky that PS and FTP are properly run(for the most part)
-
Before running a promotion the people at AP didn't know this?
I thought AP and UB are trying to show us that things are changing and the new management knows what they are doing?
More ineptness from you guys, starting to think things haven't changed a bit. -
I had never played at absolute poker before the scandal broke, and I just started playing there a few weeks ago since I was under the impression that they were getting their shit together. but in a span of 2 weeks, I have had to experiences with braindead support staff. this being one of them
the other was also in regards to the wsap and their points leaderboard. i wanted to be able to calculate how many leaderboard points i was getting so i'd know if i had moved up or not after a tourney since they don't update the board for a few days. So I emailed them asking if their formula for the wsap was the same as their tlb formula, to which they said yes and told me i had 40 points on the leaderboard lol. even though using their tlb formula i had roughly 1000 points on the leaderboard, which the tlb leaderboard confirmed. so i emailed them back to tell them they were definitely wrong and to find out the real formula, and they eventually emailed me back saying I was right, and that they would 'look into it for me' and email me back when they figured out the true formula. Of course they never emailed me back (this was a week ago) and have since pulled the promotion all together. I'm pretty sure their support staff are just prison inmates making 10 cents an hour -
I wonder if the WSOP checked with MLB back when they started.
-
lol yeah. i think the world series of cockfighting is in trouble too
-
Again I ask, if you are not a rep of AP or work for them in any way, why do they say you are one of their "pro" trainers on their TV commercials?
Even more DUH, if what you say is true, why would you be on here trying to clear this up for AP? Why would you say you "wanted to clarify" this? -
Seriously, leave.
-
You cant just flick a switch and change the name on all that creative used to make up the campaign. I am guessing they will have it fixed and get it back up. They took it down to be compliant as Annie said. Its not a quick fix.

i love to hear people complaining about the shadiness of an online site that just last year was busted for cheating it's players out of millions of dollars. all i can say is that's what you get for putting your money on that corrupt site!
-
Why are we still even talking about UB and AP? If you play there, you can't be sure you'll be treated fairly or get a fair game. I think that's pretty clear. There are lots of very reputable sites around to play on, so let's talk about those and support them. The only way to show the sites that they can't do this shit is to move your money from sites that can't be trusted to sites that can.
Do you seriously believe that the "old management" was behind the cheating and the new management is totally on the up and up? Don't you think that if you purchased a multi-million dollar company and then found out that the previous owners had cheated the customers and devalued the business immensely in doing so, that you'd probably take legal action? Wouldn't you go after them and make a big deal of it? Smells kinda funny to me. -
I have no sympathy for anyone that plays at AP or UB and no empathy for whatever horrors may befall you along the way.
The fact that anyone still plays on either one of them shows how simple minded and gullible the general public really is.
Unlike US business or regulated businesses in other countries these poker site answer to NO ONE. No laws govern them. They can only be controlled by the support or lack there of by their customers.
Since you all apparently turn a blind eye to their corruption you continue to enable them to do whatever they want, however they want, whenever they want.
It's like doing business with the mob. The only difference is at least the mob has an outside chance of having law enforcement intervene. There is no chance of that with these sites.
Play on and good luck with your roll of the dice. -
I wouldn't even trust downloading their software onto my computer. Who knows what "previous owners" have been able to get inserted into the client executable.

With that said, I did play in the P5's freeroll today. But I installed the UB client software on a virtual machine that I deleted after I was out.
