  1. Noticed this a lot lately: table will be 8 or 9 handed and then all of a sudden 4-6 people sit out and exit on the same hand.

Is it reasonable to think collusion? I see this way too often to think coincidence.

Kinda disturbing. I've also noticed these tables usually have a low avg pot size. I'm usually thinking about leaving anyways because of this.
  2. people are probably leaving b/c of the said shitty action. then to make it worse once one player sits out the action gets worse starting a domino effect of other people sitting out not wanting to be a part of it.

  3. There has been a case of such a thing happening at one of the smaller sites where the players were found to be soft playing each other just so they could accumulate frequent player points. It is collusion, but you're not likely to lose a lot of money because they aren't trying to trap suckers. Generally they can make more money on player points than they can at a job in whatever country they live. This particular ring was caught and busted up, but I think most likely they would move their operation to another site.
If in doubt always report these things to the site security. You don't have to accuse anyone, just say you saw something strange and would like for them to investigate it.
Edit: I realize rake would be a prohibitive factor in such a scam, but on this particular site there was a loophole where the player points recieved was higher than the rake paid at a micro stakes table.
