Hi,
This has to be discussed already but coulnd't find any information about this topic. My question is : is it worth it to rebuy right at the beginning of any 15minutes blinds tournaments? Let's say we play a 11+r tourney with 15 mins blinds starting with 1500 chips and 10/20 blinds, is another 1500 chip really worth an extra 11$ ? Thank you very much and sorry if this has been discussed already. -
Yes always rebuy the Max. You want to rebuy because say you get a hand and get allin with two players. You have 1500 the other two players have 3k. You will only be able to win 4500 Max instead of 9k. in a rebuy tourney that is a huge advantage over players who do not rebuy the Max. The goal is to build a nice stack and start playing some real poker after the rebuy and addon period. And definitely add on everytime. My2cents gl

I play on bovada. I buy in 5 min before end of rebut period. I rebuy. Go on break and add on. This is against what anyone on p5 will tell u but it works for me. At break i usually have 9k chips. That is enough to navigate through field.

I believe the 2nd 1500 chips would be $10, not $11
Not doing the initial rebuy is perfectly fine, the addon is 3000 chips after all for only $10. It's not wrong to do this, and I have done this before in $1000r's since I did not want to spend $3000+.
You'll just have less chips overall, and win less as a result. But it is possible that your ROI could be higher just doing a single buyin + the addon. Anyways, you should always take the addon. -
i always re-buy right away and if i bust i double re-buy every time. i do this to get as many chips as possible. if u feel uncomfortable about re-buying or double re-buying u could be playing outside of your roll. to me the reason to play a re-buy is to do just that re-buy till u add on. then the tourney is a freezeout from that point on. i try to get my M as high as possible before the add-on.

I don't see why you wouldn't rebuy instantly. Like stated above you want to get max value from people playing insane. You will find yourself in many multi way all ins early by the donks who are gambling at any chance they get. 1500 may not be a huge difference, but the extra 4 or 5k that 1500 can bring you is crucial. If you are skipping the rebuy to save $ then you probably shouldn't be playing that tournament any way. You may luck box a rebuy by buying in for the min and just adding on, but the people who consistently do well rebuy instantly, and are ready to double rebuy at least 3 or 4 times (depends on the structure/pay out of course.) The best part of a rebuy is how easy it is to get a mass of chips, take of advantage of it.
-
i dont think its necessary to rebuy that early, there is no pressure to collect chips at that time as the blinds are miniscule
-
braincabbage that is the worst idea unless u know for certain that u are one of the best players in that tourney.
-
if u are playing high stake re-buys and u can't re-buy or double re-buy because of BR issues, you need to re-think ur plan. u r playing outside of ur roll and its only a matter of time b4 u go busto. most of the reg's playing at that stake will be re-buying and double re-buying with little thought to their rollz. however u will only be thinking about ur roll. ex.. if u get all-in pre-flop w/ KK and get called by AK and he hits an A on either street whats ur play? do u leave cause u can't re-buy? another ex.. u have QQ and get all-in pre and get called by AJ or JJ and ur hand holds up do u continue on w/ the same bank roll issue? of course in both hands u continue to play. so don't play outside of ur roll!!!!!

Blueboy44 i understand what you're saying and you are right; i shouldn't play stakes i can't afford but let's say i can afford it, my question is is the extra 1500 chips really worth the 10$ (the addon is 3k chips for the same price like ch0ppy mentionned) considering that like braincabbage said there is no real pressure to collect chips as the blinds are real low and the structure real flat? I mean i could just grind my 1500 stack to 3-4k and just take the addons and i would be like 70-80bbs deep while saving 10$ ?
-
Sounds like you already had your mind made up.... but I agree with BenFaz and blueboy.
However, if NOBODY ELSE at your table has 3k chips it is not worth bumping up to 3k.... this condition will not last long, however. -
ghandi : till have less than 10bbs with the rebuys is what i do

mrx426 : well i don't play these 11+r but i had an argument about this topic with a friend of mine and i was just wondering what did you guys think about it. personally i don't play these unless i can rebuy straight up and keep rebuying like you guys are saying -
Always better to re-buy just in case
-
maybe in a 1000 rebuy event with limited fish not rebuying in the beginning is fine but but not rebuying in a 11 and lower rebuy event where there are so many easy chips, crazy all ins is definitely too conservative...i mean with this attitude why play the rebuys
-
I rebuy off the rip everytime...Other players at your table will 100% be rebuying in the beg. I want to have the most chips as possible when I get it in the middle.
-
If no one else rebuys why should you?

Like YjBrewer, I generally buy in about 5 minutes before buy in's are over. Some games have 90 minutes to buy in so whatever tble you end up on, most players have a high stack. So if you can double up a couple times, you're back in the game. Certainly it depends on what/how much you intend on spending. I'm pretty much a low ball player depositing maybe $60-100 at a time on pokerstars.
Speaking of pokerstars and sorry for off subject but; I find in any tournament on pokerstars, its practically impossible for a lowstack to beat a highstack. Ive been on both ends of the stick and it seems to me Pokerstars has a time limit on the game and want it over as soon as possible.
I dunno, I could be wrong but just that it seems to happen so darn often. -
no.

always take the rebuy, always. the exceptions (if they even exist) are so few they can be ignored. any "mistake" you'd make by rebuying when you "shouldn't" would be very small. -

seems like i always read the same general guidance:

-always take the double re-buy
-never stop re-buying and always get the add
my questions are...aren't rebuys profitable at both ends of your BI level? at least if you're a micro-grinder. a player with a $300 roll could chew through some roll quickly double buying in the $11r, but that same player may be able to nit-buy into the $11r profitably with a single buy then the add.
is the approach to a re-buy not dependent at all on bankroll? if you can buy into the $11r with a single buy and play it profitably, then even if auto-double re-buying until the break may be optimal, the best decision may be to take the conservative profitable route.
i think some people will say don't play tournies you aren't rolled for, or the line of thinking above is what makes them so profitable for those who buy-in more aggressively. But, there is so much spewey awful play pre and post add in an $11r, i think a solid player can player can play them profitably aggressively or conservatively, the difference being more profit more variance for an aggressive approach. my two cent... -
playing 11rebuys with 300 seems short to me.i like to wait b4 i rebuy till later b4 break if i need to and addon.
-
If you're worried about how much you may spend in a rebuy you're playing too high.....you'll be holding back from spots to gain chips, playing scared money, and not playing optimally - giving away more edge to better players

PLaying 11rs on 300 roll, is not a player playing under a bankroll - it's plain gambling. You should be looking at 2r and that might be even pushing it -
I used an average of five total rebuys/addons to determine if a tournament was in my bankroll. I was a little bit aggressive during the rebuy period so my real average was probably closer to seven though.
I miss online poker.
