  1. i feel like there is a style of play balance going on in this thread. some peeps have made a good arguement for not re-buying but always adding-on. that strat is good because it allows the stronger players to invest very little and win a lot. this strat should be the goal of every poker player. the other argument is to double re-buy at the start and to double re-buy if u go busto, and to always add-on. so i have considered both and i have come to a conclusion (strictly my thoughts). if the same solid/optimal players applies both strats they should expect the same results. what i mean by that is lets say we buy-in w/out double re-buying and get sucked out or we get a cooler so we have to re-buy. or u could run good and hold to double/triple up. That is the same strat of the player who double re-buys right away and any time they go busto. Wanting to push +ev spots no matter how large or small is the difference. imo
  2. always rebuy and addon every time no matter what
  3. Just not worth it to not rebuy the max. This is coming from someone that used to think it was economical to try to negotiate a tournament without rebuys and just take chips from the "suckers."

The point of the game is to accumulate chips, through playing pots or not playing pots. I'm sure the statistics in rebuy tournies strongly favor those who re-bought the max. And you're trying to win the tournament, not just cash.

You will only be able to win 4500 Max instead of 9k. in a rebuy tourney that is a huge advantage over players who do not rebuy the Max. The goal is to build a nice stack and start playing some real poker after the rebuy and addon period. And definitely add on everytime. My2cents gl

There are situations where rebuying initially doesn't pay off as much. You have to look at the how loose the players are in the rebuy period, size of the field, your style of play and what the addon is.

  5. If you are playing on Bovada, which is what I am doing because its just about my only option, then the addons are 4 or 5 times the initial buyin. I played a $20 rebuy last night. Starting chip stack was 2000. Add on after first hour was 10000. This def adds a different element to the rebuy as I always used to buy the max. In this case I feel like the optimal strategy is to just buy in once and chip up as best you can until you get the addon.
