  1. I have been playing mostly cash for the past 8 months or so and decided to put in a few MTT sessions in the past few days. I noticed a lot of changes in the games and tried to employ some counter-strategies that may have some solid rationale. I'd love to hear other player's opinions regarding these changes and hear about other recent changes in the game and appropriate counter-strategies to deal with these changes.

The recreational players have known for some time that 10bb stacks should be shoving, but it seems that now they are adding in 15bb resteals. On the whole, there are many more light 3bets than in the past by the recreational players. (I play low, so this may be a much less recent development at the higher limits) The counter-strategy that I started employing is two-fold. First, I started doing even smaller opening raises; I used to raise around 2.3-2.5, but it seems this is just a waste of chips against some of these guys. This made my calling decisions easier and amazingly, these minbets were getting some respect (MB used to be weak, so many players started MBing strong and it seems the recreational players have figured this out and are scared of the MB). Second, since the recs know they are supposed to be stealing and restealing lighter, they are calling 10 & 15 bb stacks much lighter as well, so I have started shoving bigger stacks. I made a few open shoves tonight with 18-24bb that I didn't really think were normal for me, but given the change in play, I think they were appropriate.

There were several other things I noticed, which I'm unable to articulate at this time. My sample is very small, but I really think these changes make sense. I would love to hear other counter-strategies and changes that anyone else has noticed recently. Please let me know if I'm even farther behind the curve than I think.
  2. I think your aiming way to broad here, you might get better response with more specific situations. I would maybe find some hh with weird spots.
