1. Have been playing some low limit omaha lately and doing pretty well but a book couldnt hurt....Ive looked through amazon but anyone here have any omaha book recommendations? thx
2. PLO or o8? Rolf Slotbloom wrote a good PLO book called "secrets of professional pot limit omaha"

3. More PLO right now but might venture into O8 after I get better at PLO...yea, I was just looking at that book on amazon, I'll probably get Rolf's book...

4. i'm about 2/3rds of the way through his book. don't read it but if you do, don't sit at my tables. thanks :)
5. Slotbloom's book is the best for PLO high, especially the higher games.

For high-low you want Tenner and Krieger's book and Cappelletti's book.

Cloutier's PLO book is pretty good for tournaments and has lots of solid practical stuff in it.
6. There is pretty much no book literature on PLO8...Just have to search the net and try to find stuff...
7. cool, thanks guys

8. PLO and 8s or better really are two games you don't need to read much about in depth. The game is all about hand selection for the most part. I'm not saying that the games are easy, but once you get over the fact that 2-pair and sets getrun over in PLO alot, then you can play the game. As for 8s or better, just do some light reading online about it.

As an aside, Play Poker Like the Pros by Helmuth has a section on omaha, but my favorite book for the basics is The Poker Player's Bible by Lou Krieger.
9. isn't Rolf's book about shortstacking PLO cash? Is it that good if people want to sit with a full stack and not play push/fold plo?
10. Rolf's book is the perfect place to start. His strategy keeps you out of trouble, and you make money while you learn to play. And please don't sit at my table after you read it either. ;)

At the opposite end of the spectrum, Ken Warren's book is almost completely worthless if you have even half a clue what you doing.
11. For basics, Ray Zee's book about Om8 and Stud8 is ok.

Super System 2 of course has very strong chapters on PLO and Om8.

12. he definitely puts forward a strategy with short stack play, yes. but he has many examples of deep stack play as well. the PLO section of SSII is good, but Rolf's book is more along the 'Harrington' style with hand quizes / justifications and alternate scenarios (i like reading what the view is of each play in a hand, for example, as it helps me think through things more at the table).

my PLO game has been pretty weak, but my profit has managed to be ok ($1800 over 11,000 hands at generally 50c and $1 stakes). i'm hopeful that i hit the variance curve nicely while i was learning and now that i have a bit more knowledge can increase the win rate there.

one other thing that people have recommended, but that I haven't done yet, is to join CardRunners, they apparently have PLO videos that might be worth watching (sbrugby has some IIRC, and I'd love to see them at some point).
