  1. I'm not sure if this is a leak in my game or not. I compare my stats to a lot of succesfull players and find that my Cash % is higher but my final table% is significantly lower. Obviously I don't give a damn about doubling my investment in a tourney we all want top 3, so should I be going for more pots in the first hour or just be patient and let the poker gods grant me immunity to being a loser as a 3:1 favorite?
  2. Well, the thing is, over a 3-4 hour tournament, you aren't going to be granted ammunity from losing as a 3-1 favorite. If you are playing very tight, you are likely going to get into these about 7-8 times in a 300 person tournament (more in bigger ones) and needing to win them all. Statistically, that is unlikely.

Though, I guess it's how tight are you early on. If you have a big enough stack, be willing to mess around in pots with small pairs or suited connectors. The times these hit big, they can pay off very nicely. Other than that, be willing to take a flip early in a tournament. You'll have to win a few of these anyway, might as well get one out of the way early, where, the times you win, you'll have the chips to dabble around with.
