  1. Hey guys, just had a quick question about a hand that occured the other night at the local cardroom here. here is some quick info about the tourny. It was $40 buy in, 2K starting stack, turbo tourny (almost seemed as though a hyper turbo, as the blinds were relatively short in time and increased 2x every level). After the first hour it was pretty much open shove mode. Once I made it to the final table (already ITM w/ 7ppl left) I become pretty much tied with three people for chip lead each of us having about 30K with the blinds at 2K/4K/500. Im on the button and get dealt 55....it folds around to the cutoff who is this old guy who was for the most part chip leader and always raising and never contested. Well he raises to 10K I then reshove for 30K puttin him all in, he tanks for a while and calls. I will post results later if needed, however i just need some feedback on whether or not that was an acceptable play in regards to the blind structure, reads of the old man, and the fact that i was playing to win. Thanks for the help in advance.
  2. This is absolutely an acceptable play with < 10bb

However, I will post some food for thought...

This guy is pretty much making a mistake by putting in one-third of his stack pre-flop without having a plan in place. With the structure as it is, there's pretty much no way in hell you can bet fold. So really there's no FE and that's where your 55 shove runs into trouble. Because there's no FE, the 55 loses some of it's value. Although villain has made a mistake, his mistake has now become a proper all in call against your 55. See what Im saying? Even though he has made a mistake, given the blinds and stacks (no FE) this mistake can't really be exploited with your 55 hand and instead turns his mistake into the proper move i.e. a call against your 5s.

Well explained. My guess is he's either holding QQ+ or complete air. However, if that air is two cards higher than a 5 you're still flipping.
  4. well i thought i was in trouble too, but the guy ended up flipping over A2 off, and spiking the ace. ....

    Did you smash his face?
  6. This is def a shove if your playing to win... It would be different if he open shoved because you would much rather be shoving your stack than calling it off... and dutchcourage if dude is tanking here like he said he does not have qq+ its more like a mediocre hand (a2 like he said) because any hand that valuable is a snapcall
