preflop call is kinda questionable but i've only been at the tbl for 5 hands and i opened 3 times. i don't really know pepperdiablo except he's already played couple pots of the 5 i was sitting for.. I felt like bb's range was pretty wide so i decided to take a flop.
AS PLAYED is call gonna make me $$$ in the long run?
:S -
i hate your line, but u probably have to call, and kick yourself when u see ace king.
you have to call because you checked the flop -
yeah this is a bad spot. but i agree, probably call and slap yourself when u see AK. risky call preflop, but when u hit top-top on the flop u definitely shouldnt have checked behind him imo. this is where position plays...he checks, u bet and he raises (then u worry about KK-AA and evaluate turn)..or u bet and he folds or just calls. if he checks flop again, i'd fire a 2nd bet and see what he does...if AK, he probably folds and u take the pot down. just my 2 cents
-
AJ sucks fold pre... as played the only hand that beats u is AK. QQ+ bets the flop and well JJ is just fairrrly unlikely here. his range is AK or air, but god fold pre
-
I think a lot of people check this flop with pretty much their entire range preflop, there's no reason he can't play AA/KK this way. And if you think AK is the only thing that beats us, AQ must be the only hand we beat, and why would AQ check the flop but decide to double barrel turn and river as a bluff?
-
AQ is the only real "air" hand that I can see him playing like this. I don't think there's really a wide range of bluffs he's going to have when he takes this line. I fold river and not really think too much about it.
Preflop is a pretty simple fold w/out any specific reads. -

Your line seems pretty standard preflop. When he checked the flop you have to bet. If you get raised there you can reacces the situation. Without a bet you get no info. When he bet the turn you could have raised as well. The problem is that you never defined your hand or his. He could be betting with anything because you checked the flop. He could be betting with 10's and below thinking they are good because of the check check on the flop. Since you called the turn you almost have to call the river as well. You put yourself in a bad spot by being passive. It seems to me like he was making a play at you preflop due to your recent aggressiveness.
What did he have? KQ? I'm curious to know what happened... -
dont think this lines even THAT bad, its a fold..why would the guy decide to check that flop texture, then all of a sudden decide to also double barell with bet sizes that dont even look like bluffs? doubt your winnign too often here...its rarely a weaker j, its never 10 10 99 or 88 and i dont think you have any reason to assume hes 3 betting light...like you said you had only been at the table 5 hands?
could be AQ though -
there's no reason why he can't check this back with a big pair - we do beat TT which could play the hand like this, but I like a fold we just aren't going to win often enuff.
-
idk bout the call pre, its prolly fine
turn is fine also
river i fold tho. not much we beat. only bluff catching at this point and i dont think AQ/TT-88 bluff turn and river that much, they have enough showdown value to try and see it cheap.
AK got there, any overpair can play it that way, maybe hoping to c/r the flop and sets could check just to slowplay (ppl love doing it)
id just let it go. -
ok some poker discussion i can dig this. yes he can have aa/kk here but usually im not gonna give credit for a random to play aa/kk this way. Most randoms that raise aa/kk pre here just simply are going to bet this flop. I gotta assume, and it seems like u would too, that QQ bets this flop either way. I said at the end, that his range is AK or air, ur saying that we only beat AQ. I think theres gotta be some hands in his range (since the OP said he was active the past hands that the villain saw) that hes going to 3bet pre, maybe shutdown on the flop but decide to fire the turn after sensing weakness, and then use the king as a scare card to bet the river. Maybe thats giving someone more credit than simply checking the flop w/ AA/KK as a trap so idk.

ya i messed up positions i thought u were CO and he was sb, flat cant be too bad if at all. his line doesnt really make much sense, i think there might be some air in his range but usually ur probably beat here on the riv.
