Well folks True No Limit has arrived in South Florida.
Edited By: clovus Jul 4th, 2010 at 05:51 PM
I just got back from Las Vegas in time for the July 1st NO LIMIT DEBUT for more than 100 Buy in.
The Isle Casino in Pompano and Palm Beach Kennel Club will be reviewed for those coming back from the WSOP for the 2/5 and 5/10 No Limit Cash Games.
The Isle has a 200 to 500 2/5 game with a $ 5 max Rake + 1 bad beat.
They also run a higher limit 5/10 game with a 500 to 1500 Buy in and a 500 Uncapped 5/10 game and a 10/20 uncapped game but most of the action is on the 2/5 game the first weekend of real poker. The 5/10 games have $6 every half hour or every dealer rake.
The action was intense on Thursday and by Friday the maniacs that used to buy the $100 push and shove strategy for $100 are now playing 2- 5 after losing a few thousand in three buy ins instead of 15 buy ins in the old kiddie poker max 100 capped buy in.
The Isle is open 24 hours on weekends and open 24 hours on Holidays.
The best 5/10 No Limit game is at the Palm Beach Kennel Club $500 to $2500 buy in 9 handed and a very loose game with weak players.
Usually any where from 12 to 20 K on the table. The biggest pot of the weekend was as a Ten Thousand Dollar pot. 99 vs AA with 4 callers pre flop at $125.
The flop came two overs suited and the 9 X and the betting got intense on the flop. Over 2000 in the pot on the flop with a flush draw and st8 draws out there. The turn was a blank and all the money went in on the turn.
The set of 9s held up as the AA could not fold ( I would have with two overs but the theory in Florida is there was too much money to fold)
Total pot was close to 10,000 USD ,
Best win rate is at PALM BEACH I am averaging 100 USD per hour in the 2/5 games and $300 in the $5/10 games. Average raise is 55 to 75 pre flop Palm Beach in the 5/10 game and 20 to 35 in the 2/5 game. Much more action than in the comparable games in Las Vegas at the Venetian and the ARIA.
Kennel Club serves alcohol till 5 am and had 15 tables all night Friday and Saturday night.
ISLE in Pompano turns off like a night light at around 1 to 2 am and all the tables start going from 10 to 5 or 6 players and the alcohol consuming fish are usually gone by 2 pm when they stop serving alcohol.
The Palm Beach Kennel Club better food Service Masage girls and dealers. Brand New chairs in the Corral where they run the higher stakes game and they opened a new door closer to the parking lot with PBSO officers providing security. Lots of dead money in all the games.
They are both great places and the ISLE by far a more esthetic enhanced room but the Kennel Club is upgrading all the chairs and have wide screen tvs easy to watch for all your sports in the brand new high stakes corral. Bar and food service all night and alcohol till 5 Am and you can walk out 20 feet to the door if your a smoker. Easier to get around in than the Isle and more tables and less noise for tournaments on Saturdays.
For all you Las Vegas Grinders that are moving to Florida add both these rooms to your play lists
In MY OPINION the HARD ROCK Hollywood is a dive of a room even though there are some high stakes games there in the upstairs area. Its an old coverted sports bar and not really a well layed out poker facility.
Their concentration is on the blackjack and baccarat tables where they bought new chairs and tables. Poker was forgotten till the stakes went up and there have been reports of colusion at the Hard Rock and not really policed by their floor.
So play at your own risk and just be careful of getting squeezed by the known regulars there. Most of S. Florida are aware of who they are and since I wont play there I cant verify if it is still going on. Rumours usually have a factual base so make your own decision where you play. **** Also be careful leaving from the Parking Garage. Twice in two years people have been followed home and robbed at gun point with their Poker Winnings and people have been robbed in the garage too****
A great tournament week coming up at the ISLE in Pompano on August 2nd t August 8th with over $450,000 Guaranteed with the featured tournament at $1000 _+ 100 buy in. 20,000 chips 1 hour blinds and a 250 K guaranteed prize pool. Lots of good cash games on MTT days so book your first two weeks of August at the ISLE and Palm Beach Kennel Club.
I look forward to seeing all the grinders and mtts players that are in Las Vegas in S. Florida the rest of the summer as they the local players still have not adapted to Deep Stack poker like they have in Las Vegas and there is plenty of dead money for all.

<!-- end /production/story/credit_line_format.comp -->A Plantation couple was robbed at gunpoint in their driveway early Saturday morning after returning with poker winnings from the Seminole Hard Rock Casino, police said.
``They may have been followed from that casino,'' said Plantation Det. Robert Rettig.
Police did not identify the victims, but they granted an interview to WSVN-Channel 7.
Thomas and Josephine Gigliotti gave a harrowing account of the encounter with two gunmen shortly before 2 a.m.
Regulars at the casino, the couple said they were arriving home with $4,000 in poker winnings when they were accosted by two men as they pulled into their home.
``Where's the money?'' Thomas Gigliotti, 74, said one suspect asked while the other urged his partner to: ``Shoot him, shoot him!''
``I thought that was it,'' Thomas Gigliotti said.
The couple, who have been married more than 50 years, were not harmed in the incident.
But Josephine Gigliotti, 71, told Channel 7 that she worried for her husband's safety after he took off in pursuit of the robbers in their SUV, chasing them for blocks.
He rammed into them, forcing the suspects to abandon their getaway car and run.Gigliotti then drove to the police station.
``It was a horrific night,'' Josephine Gigliotti said.
Police are searching for the culprits. -
Update on the Isle at Pompano.
They are also running a 10/25 No limit game. One thousand to Uncapped game I believe.
Seems to get a lot of loose action too. -
Thank you for the reviews. Keep them coming!
