Sam and I have played together often in recent months, every session ending with the same question, hey Bud you spot me a nickel??...... No Sam i dont lend money sorry. WHY IS IT THAT A GUY WHO HAS BOUGHT INTO AND CAHSED IN NEARLY EVVERY 2006 WSOP EVENT (currently 9-26 in 10k PLO). asking for money???? He would ask a pandhander to borrow a couple bucks . GRIZZLE = mooch, however i let it go because he beat the piss outta hellmuth and when he retells the story of how Phil tried to bite him during the fight.... it washes away all anger in my mind.
-
would you please relate the story of the fight in greater detail
-
Looking at grizzle he looks like he needs a nickel.
-
Basically, Grizzle and Hellmuth got in a hand where Hellmuth rivered him and wouldnt shut up about how much better he was than Sam. Sam suggested they fight. They go outside the Rio i think, and hellmuth starts by trying to hit him while sam isnt lookking, misses,. Grizzle one punch, hellmuth on the ground . Phil tries to bite his leg, kjicks him in the shin... grizzle one more punch hellmuth says uncle.. game HOVA.

maybe becuase h ehasn't bought into the tournaments, his backers have. A good deal of big buy-in tourneys pros are backed in some way shape or form.
-
I think this happened several years ago...and it was at the Shoe not the Rio....unless they had another fight.
-
I do not know about him being a panhandler, but i had the chance to talk/BS with him at last years WSOP during a break and he was a very cool laid back guy who had some of the funniest stories i have ever heard. Me and a couple of my buddies saw him again a couple days later and we went over to BS with him while he was in a tourney and he was calling us his protection because we all had beer bottles in our hand and he said we were his posse. He also told us his wife would not let him come home until he made some $$$$ (he still had the same clothes on that he had on 2 days before) and he said he was sleeping on someones floor at the Rio....just a pleasant/funny guy!!

the conversation between him and cloutier about "pocket pool" was fucking hilarious!

wasn't that john bonnetti if i'm not mistaken?

The Hellmuth story sounds great, but I would like to hear Sam tell the story about the day that Stu Ungar "bitchslapped" him with his cards after Grizzle beat him in a big pot and then asked to see Stuey's whole cards. Mike Sexton I believe it was, said in "One of a Kind" that Stuey showed him his cards alright and then the two had to be physically restrained from one another. I bet that was hilarious.

no pics of Sam Grizzle?

grizzle is a cassh game donk. hes a live one in the games
-
I have only seen him twice and both times he was trying to hustle a young very in shape guy (different guy both times, one was Twan* Lee, and the other was a young black guy) by challenging them to a foot race. I don't know if he's fast or used to run track or something, But I later heard he won the race with Twan* so this must be a bet he has a edge in. Anyway, I thought it was funny that the only 2 times I ever saw him he was hustling a guy to race him.

He seems bad. Lots of these live players that they make out to be pros seem bad.
A lot of the regular posters on these forums are probably better players. All they need to do is learn some tourney tactics and work on their games and live play and they would be way better than these jokers.
I've been watching a lot of live poker on television, and its really pretty atrocious. Most of these guys would get killed in the $100r tournaments. The "superstars" are obvious excellent and poker geniuses, but most of these regular live pros just seem terrible.
I was watching the USPC yesterday and saw a good example of this. Here is the chat log from when I was watching (other persons comments/name cut out):
<SPAN>12:53 AM </SPAN><SPAN><SPAN><SPAN>me</SPAN>: so</SPAN></SPAN> <SPAN> </SPAN><SPAN><SPAN>im watching the US poker champs</SPAN></SPAN>
<SPAN> </SPAN><SPAN><SPAN>day one</SPAN></SPAN>
<SPAN> </SPAN><SPAN><SPAN>and I know the blind levels</SPAN></SPAN>
<SPAN> </SPAN><SPAN><SPAN>and opening raise sizes</SPAN></SPAN>
<SPAN> </SPAN><SPAN><SPAN>and its a revelation</SPAN></SPAN>
<SPAN> </SPAN><SPAN><SPAN>because I realize</SPAN></SPAN>
<SPAN> </SPAN><SPAN><SPAN>that everyone is just terrible</SPAN></SPAN>
<SPAN> </SPAN>
<SPAN>12:54 AM </SPAN>
<SPAN> </SPAN><SPAN><SPAN><SPAN>me</SPAN>: they act like its a bad beat when</SPAN></SPAN>
<SPAN> </SPAN><SPAN><SPAN>the blind are 25-50</SPAN></SPAN>

<SPAN> </SPAN><SPAN><SPAN><SPAN>me</SPAN>: and a guy who final tabled last year</SPAN></SPAN>

<SPAN> </SPAN><SPAN><SPAN>we've seen brian haveson run into a lot of bad luck...</SPAN></SPAN>
<SPAN> </SPAN><SPAN><SPAN>lol wtf</SPAN></SPAN> -
What happened with this was that tuan le was doing prop bets with ted forrest and bet forrest in a race against someone, forrest won. since tuan wanted his money back he wanted to race forrest and ted declined. Ted saw sam grizzle walk by and told tuan he would bet him that tuan couldnt beat grizzle in a 50 yard dash with grizzle having a 10 yard head start. tuan accepted the bet for about 43000 but said if grizzle wouldnt run forrest would lose 8k. at first grizzle said there was no way in hell he was running and he went to play a tourney. tuan gave forrest till the break to get grizzle to run and somehow ted did it. grizzle went on to win the race.
