So the other night while the final table was going on, and i realized i would be able to watch it for free, i saw a bunch of postings about people betting on cunningham and other people on here, So I made a post right when the final table started, saying if anyone wants to bet I'll give anyone player 2-1 odds on anyone other then Jamie Gold, then P5'er Number2 came on and said he would Give me Gold with 2-1 odds, we agreed on a friendly wager of 20.00, because as like most people on here probably, watching it is fun, but rooting for someone and spicing it up a bit always makes it more intersting. At like 1 in the morning, well after the final table was going on and Gold was dominating Number2 wrote me and said that he didn't want to do the bet anymore, About 4 hours after we made the original bet, saying he didn't have enough UB money to pay off the bet, so i wrote him back saying how can you cancel a bet 4 hours later, he said your right, i can pay you on pokerstars, which i don't have a pokerstars account, but worked out a deal with someone i know who would transfer me 40.00 UB dollars for the 40, pokerstars, so i wrote him back and said that's fine, and 4 private messages, and 4 days later and i still havent heard back from him, and he has logged on and been on. So i guess the moral of the Story is, even on friendly 20.00 wager, don't make a bet with someone you don't know.. and most importantly Don't get scammed by Number2 like i did...... The worst part is, his profile says he's 44 years old, so it's not even like he's some punk 18 year old who can't afford it... very pathetic...
-
You pays your nickel and you takes your chances.
-
Still a 44 year old man, who you agree to a friendly 20.00 wager with, I guess i just expected more from someone of that age, in a 20.00 bet lol My faith in the human population is starting to decrease everyday, i remember when someones word actually meant something, and once again, it's not like he was some 18 year old kid, then i might expect it, but a 44 year old man on a 20.00 bet? lol
-
Not much i can say other than sorry. No matter what poker discussion site you're on theres always the guys that want to screw you out of money. Hopefully you two can get this resolved sooner or later. But be an optimist, only $20!
-
Its always rough when Number2 crawls back into its hole after 4 hours of anticipation...can make for a very unpleasant evening.
-
Come clean Tony - just admit that you're playing multiple P5 accounts and that you scammed yourself.
-
Sorry that happened...it's a shame. I think it's important to note that the lesson to be learned is a lesson that gets learned over and over and over and over. Unless you have a trusted source escrowing money or you know the person you're betting well, it's not smart to make bets with random people over the internet! It's not smart to lend money over the internet to people you don't know! It's not smart to trust people you don't know.
We can't control or take responsibility for all 17,000 of our members, so people are going to need to protect themselves a bit by not leaving themselves open to this sort of thing.
Again, I'm sorry it happened....hopefully you'll know to avoid this sort of situation in the future. -
better than losing $100 bucks betting on everybody except jamie, the chipleaders not supposed to win, what is the world coming to
-
Stalk him relentlessly and chastize him unmercifully every time you spot him. Shame him into doing the right thing.
*edit As an aside, I put $20 on Gold vs the field when he had 51.2 million chips and had nagging doubts that he would throw first because he didn't want the fame. -
17k members? You guys should start your own pokerroom.
-
Yeah. Harass him.
"I want my $2."
Let this be your mantra.
And BTW, welching on a bet is quite different than being scammed.
You weren't scammed. Take solice in the fact you aren't an idiot. -

LOL great post </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> -
Ya, it stinks, I def. don't blame P5's though, i just more or less posted it so people wouldn't do a deal with him in the future. And like i said, it was a 20.00 bet so it wasn't the end of the world, but the only thing that really bothers me is i would have payed him the second it was over if i lost......
-
Does kind of seem like a fun idea, he has his name on there, i should just look him up in the white pages, and start harrassing him, although i do feel like i'd probably be stooping to his level, so i guess i probably won't, maybe a drunk dial some night though! haha

last time i checked it wasnt a free webbroadcast. It was a $24.95 pay per view broadcast.
If you got it for free then you stole it, kinda like stealing cable -
i paid 24 bucks for it, worth every penny, except gordan was retarded the whole time, if he had shut up it would have been cool
-
don't be sore because you shelled out $25 before getting the free link. muahaha
-
Hi, my name is Bob and I'm a thief.
-
I watched it for free as well =)
-
Well traffic, if you went to ESPN.com, clicked on the WSOP link, and clicked the free broadcast like at least probably 3,000 other P'5ers did who were all watching and talking about how it was free on here, then you would know... Glad YOU payed 24.95 and all the rest of the p5'ers got it for free though...
-
actually i did get it for free, ha
