"The final two players in the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. event have come to a gentleman's agreement to chop up the prize money. As part of that agreement, Scotty Nguyen is the champion of the tournament and Chino Rheem is runner-up."
First off I like both players and I'm not trying to take away anything from either, but seriously a chop for the title when stacks were dead even?!?! Anyone know anything about this, because I read this and it really is bugging me. I can only speculate Scotty made a cash offer Chino can't refuse during their gentlemen's agreement. This has so much value for Scotty to win both 10k HORSE. Another major for Rheem would have sick sponsorship value too though so I'm confused.
I've been a Scotty supporter even after the WSOP. However, I was disappointed to read that he didn't exercise good etiquette when Matt Graham was eliminated in 5th. -
ya poor chino rheem...

Scotty is one of the sickest mixed games players, pretty sure chino couldn't turn down a nice cash offer. I was also wondering the other day why Chino hasn't been endorsed by a poker site yet..

Fuck scotty. He doesnt like online players or young players. Dude is a dick, has a huge chip on his shoulder with an even bigger stick up his ass. He used to be cool, but has turned into a egotistical jerk who verbally abuses players at the table.

details of dialogue after Matt Graham busted?

This!

"Matt Graham moved all in on fifth street and Scotty Nguyen called him down. Graham revealed K
K
to go with the exposed K
A
2
he held and Nguyen turned up 8
3
to go with his up cards of 9
9
J
. Graham was dealt the Q
on sixth street, while Nguyen received the 6
to make a flush. Nguyen, said "Bye bye," when he realized he had drawn out on Graham to defeat him. Graham mucked his hand after peaking at his last down card and he walked away from the table as Nguyen laughed"
-
worse has been said at the table.
Don't understand why a tourney would allow the heads up players to just agree to who would win the event. They could of just as easily made their agreement and just played out the hands to conclusion. -
I wouldn't have allowed it if I was Matt Savage.

Why, they paid the entry fee, why shouldn't they be allowed to decide if and how they want to chop? I bet that Scotty had a small chip lead, and offered Chino half of the money if Scotty got the title. It happens all of the time. It has happened to me twice, where I was Chino's spot and was offered an even chop when I was heads-up and trailing the other guy as long as I gave him the title and I took it both times. To be honest afterwards it bothered me not to have a chance at the title and I have since turned such an offer. I felt guilty turning down the money because this game is about money, titles are worthless unless it is a pretesigious enough of a title to bring sponsorship. But once in a while it is O.K. to make -EV poker decisions if you are an amatuer player who plays primarily for the fun of the game and in this case making that -EV decision enables you to have a lot of fun playing for the title.

Ive been witness to a chop where the player with more chips actually agreed to give the 2nd player more money if he agreeed to let him win the title. . It was quite amusing how it all went down.

scotty nyguyen is a fucking cock sucking POS. He's a dick to dealers, constantly runs his mouth about how great he is, and when he starts to not even run a little like god he turns into the biggest fucking whining baby ever, and this is all my personal opinion after having played with him several times at WSOP and a cpl times here in LA.
Also huge L O FUCKING L at the idiot who said he's one of the 'best mixed players ever'. Why? Because he ran ridiculously above expectation in 2 big tournaments? Holy shit ppl like you tilt me bc you dont fucking know anythign about poker, you just see 2 results and immediately hop on this tool's bandwagon. Matt G > scotty all day.
