    So its about 30 before the bubble and Seat 6 is making weird bets (20xbb etc)the whole time in late position to steal blinds. But twice he showed down 10 10 and AQ (luckily in both cases i folded..first 88 and then KQ on the button). Then this hand comes up. Open shove UTG+1. Is this +EV to call? I'm top 5 in chips at this point.....

    yes call ur only behind 2 hands significnatly(aa, kk), slight favorite (AK), surely a call.

    Yeah I would call with your hand. If the person has AA, why not just do the normal 3 or 4x bb raise to try to amass chips? With that person going all in, Id prolly put them on AK and they dont want a race, hence shoving.

    The person that shoved, while the tourny you are in is an MTT, I do think to some extent when you check out their stats in Sharkscope, that they play MTT's similiar to SNG's. -36% avg. roi, -$822 total profit for 522 games.

    Major fish there and that explains why the 20xbb raises and so forth.

    i would agree, however he just finished showing down huge hands after open shoving. after this hand he did the same thing and open shoved twice more and showed JJ and QQ. under normal circumstances its instacall.

    It says collected 4675 from the pot. Was this in the early going of the tourny or later when you started posting?

    If it was later in the tourny, which it prolly was, notice there was only 4675 in the pot which means he/she did the normal 3xbb raise.

    in addition to the above said i think also to get a better grip on a call or not u have to account for how often he is showin down his hands, if for every 4-5 pushes/raises he shows down 1 solid hand i'd say your pretty safe to call (a lot players at a $3 level will show down their raises with big hands in order to earn respect- they are very straight forward thinkers). Also if you do fold you arent in too bad of shape, u still have like 75x the bb so u can find a better spot. Its a tough one, im not really gonna give a definitive yes/no answer since u already posted what he showed.

    lol no meanie. just wanted to get opinions as to what the correct play is (if there is one) with the stacks so deep and an open shove....by the way - go look up this player now. hes still doing it and is in first place and still showing down KK QQ JJ AA on open shoves. i have never seen so many high pocket pairs in one game

    call because I wouldn't be able to think of any reasonable reason for him to make this play with AA, KK, my only concern would be AK and I would probably figure I was in fantastic shape.

    you were behind this time, but i definitely call here. his range is wide enough that QQ is a clear favorite. only 2 hands beat you, and he's shoving AQ/10's, which are well behind. You may be top 5 but you have an outstanding chance to pick up 78,000 chips and have 5 times anybody at the table!

    The best part is even if you do lose, you still have a very healthy 58,000 remaining, which means you'd still be second at your table. Too many good factors to pass up this chance.
