Did I over play this hand?
ur advice is appreciated -
hey dtyler - first of all, it's obv a tough beat. That said, I think part of the key to the hand comes from the fact that there are 5 limpers. It's a definite possibility that someone limped their suited connector. Your check is fine preflop, but, like you said, it's a stupid dangerous flop. I think your near pot-sized bet is a good feeler, but the hard part comes from the crazy player. No doubt you could keep the pot down to a manageable size if it was just between you and player A, but with psycho B, it's considerably more difficult.
I'd assume that if Player A is just calling behind on that board, he most likely is still drawing (however, if he is just drawing you didn't give him odds...which could indicate that he's trapping), but then B goes and f's it all up by throwing the raise in. Now you can be relatively sure you're beating him at that point, but can't be sure of Player A. You can fold if you think there's just too good of a chance that A has a made hand (there's still the outside chance that he folds his very weak flush), but since his call on the flop could mean weakness, I don't mind the shove.
In the end, I think your implied odds, the fact that B is crazy and A is probably drawing, as well as the fact that you still have outs make this a decent shove. I hope this helped a little bit (I'm ridiculously tired, so if it didn't make any sense, chalk it up to that.) -
In playing, I've learned that most of the time you see the one suited board, no one has the flush. Even if they do, you have 7 outs on the turn, and 10 on the river.
If you know that you are up against the flush, pot odds dictate a fold. But, since I have seen pushes here with either drawing hands (holding the ace clubs, maybe with a pair), or a hand weaker than yours (2 pair that can't get away), it isn't bad.
Ending up, the odds were way against you. He had the flush, and then 2 of your outs were folded by the original caller.
If your pushing here (and can't get away if another club hits on the turn), then I really like the push. You ended up running into a flopped flush with your set, and that's tough. It's one of those reasons why you have to play in your bankroll. -
Thanks for the in put
I thought about the hand pretty much the same way -
Heres the thing, think outside the box for a second. The crazy guy is being the crazy guy, so be it and he does mess things up for you a bit. But I think if you just smooth call you're giving Player A great odds to push, the pot being $210 at that point. I think player A has to seriously evaluate his baby flush then thinking that maybe you've flopped a bigger flush with the flat call out of position. Player B is obviously protecting hand and weakly at that, with only a raise of 60 to your 20. Regardless if player A thinks he's good then he pushes and you have a +EV situation and you can get your chips in with great pot odds and like the previous poster said 7 outs then 10. But the point is, that player A is either going to fold or push, which is what you're looking for but now you're getting greater odds, if he folds you obv push the flop regardless and probably collect a good pot. The other thing is you also might be giving player B odds then to call the push as well, and then it become a massively +EV situation for you. I don't know, the advice that was given before is good stuff, just thinking outside the box. GL
