  1. Something I was pondering last night after my session. I play 5/10, 10/20 SH Limit Holdem regularly over most sites and have won and lost many times.

I have developed a theory I believe will help my win rate and it has only to do with table image. Last night I noticed that when I sit down at a table and win the first showdown(not stealing blinds or raising and c-betting to take it down) my winning rate at the table is much higher than normal. I believe that most players will develop their view of your image in quickly as any good player must in a short handed game. When I sit down and win the first hand it seems like the players give more respect than usual which I feel is very beneficial because stealing and c-betting are so common short handed and necessary to win, if the other players are less likely to look you up or chase their pair draw you should have a higher win rate.

On the other hand when I sit down and lose a showdown immediatly I tend to have a much worse session. It is difficult to get respect for my bluffs and it seems like the other players will draw much more readily and aggressivly.

I understand that my realization of my image should allow me to play no matter what my table image is as long as I utilize it, however in a SH game if I have a loose/losing table image it is much tougher to make a profit over the long run due to the need to steal and c-bet many flops in order to stay ahead of the blinds.

Sorry if this isnt articulated well, I still havent given it enough thought, just thought I would see what P5ers think about this theory. Ideally I would like to use this to maximize profit by leaving a game quickly if I lose the first hand.

  2. I like winning hands too, just remember to fold KK, gg.
  3. Good Well thought out reply.

Its almost like table selection, except it goes beyond picking a table with weak players. I think that a table with weak players could be worse than a table with stronger players if you sit down and lose right away.
