  1. I am sure it is pretty widely known, but who are some of the big names sheets backs? Sure i will get wild/bullsht answers, but just curious
  2. Will probably be a shorter list if you ask who Sheets and Bax dont back to be honest.
  3. They dont call it the Empire for nothing
  4. kenny rap and bel0w right?..im interested in this as well
  5. i'm more curious as to why no1 will ever state who they back. i dont think anything shady is goin on but i do believe they have there guys under some sort of code of rules and ethics.

  6. yea the code is called none of anyones fucking business
  7. I agree. I understand that me broaching the subject may anger or annoy those involved. Just an honest question up for discussion. Its a poker discussion forum, isnt this? come on those who know.....SPILL IT

  8. PLEASE LEAVE SHEETS ALONE, HE IS A GOOD GUY!
  9. Because its not really for us to speculate who they back. Alot of players dont want people to know they are backed. So its pretty much up to them if they want to make it common knowledge or not.
  10. Its disgusting how many people they back and its bad for poker.

I don't give a shit what people say...when you have a stable that big, the play overall is effected by it..whether it be slowplaying, semi dumping, mulit accountinng, etc.

I got the utmost respect for all those players who got to the top or play at the top with little or no backing at all.

Monopolies are never good for any business or profession.
  11. I think a better question is if someone backs a player and a player they back are at the same table as a tournament, isn't it ethically right for the backer to disclose this?
  12. i remember askin them to back me a while back..... and i was turned down. Now i am slowly trying to "break" the empire ;p

    yahhhhhhh im bitter

  13. the only thing disgusting is the absurd assumptions in your post...

  14. You sound like the YouTube Britney Spears guy/girl

    LEAVE BRITNEY ALOOOONE!
  15. The problem with your question is those that know who they back, aren't going to tell you. And those that don't know, simply don't know. So you won't really find out unless you really dig deep or some people blab it to you.

I'm not quite sure this is true, although I certainly don't feel comfortable "outing" the players I know they back. I'd def say in a perfect world that info would be public.

(I'm doing a little devils advocate as I'm not sure I even believe the above is true, certainly in most cases when X and Y make a deal Z has no business knowing that took place.)

Upon further thought... firstly let's remove Bax/sheets from the discussion, as this has nothing to do w/ their empire and everything to do with A)half the tournament poker world being backed and B) half the tournament poker world being shady people who I have no reason to trust. Not sure what the solution is but seems like a valid inquiry.

Surely, everyone agrees that if Men Nguyen is backing someone, its everyone at the table's business as he is a known cheat who it has been claimed asks his horses to do unethical things.
  17. ok we can start the list now: 1.) TheWacoKidd 2.) ...
  18. Oh really...so you are saying there is never any type of immoral or even illegal play from players who are backed by the same people.

Would being backed by the same people cause players to be more likely or less likely to commit an immoral or illegal play?

    Are monopolies good?

My assumptions are standard business thoughts and practices.

Fucking Nascar drivers help each other out....but poker players backed by the same person don't?.......lol to that shit
  19. I know a whole handful of people who are backed by bax/sheets but honestly there is no reason for random birdies to know. If you don't know already, then there is no reason for you to know. I am pretty sure if the backers wanted the world to know they would start a thread with all the names.

  20. never say never, but there really isnt any incentive built in for 2 different horses to cheat with each other, and like u said they back everyone, so if they had cheated it would have been leaked by now. from all indications they run an honest business and I have respect for them and their success.
  21. Youre just making assumptions though preston. What youre saying may or may not happen... You dont know that and neither do any of us... You dont think youre a little out of line with saying this?
  22. this does not have to be planned collusion of any sort...it can simply be playing slightly different agains someone in your stable as you would against someone who was not....in other words...soft playing..
  23. but why would i soft play vs. someone that has chips i need to make money?

  24. I don't believe for one second that a backer can play the same way against their backees when situated at the same table.

Fife....i am the type of person that says what many others won't. Why change in PD.
  25. LOL @ comparing poker to Nascar.
  26. sheets was a national merit scholar and a decorated cub scout.

i highly doubt they'd put up with any shenanigans.

but i did hear sheets actually backs a few underground, illegal, bowling troupes. he may not be the straight shooter he appears to be.

I do not play for them... I did however last year when I had my initial live success, and from my experiences both online and live, on and off the table, sheets and bax are extremely clean and honest, and do not encourage chip dumping or collusion or even any soft play of any sort... period

  28. i think more of what i meant was that it wasnt the business of a random birdie.

i have a pretty good idea who they back and who is backed by the other "operations" but theres no reason for the casual observer to know that info

and also agree w ari, im sure if there was anything shady going on it def would be out by now. i believe they run an honest and legit empire and no reason to think otherwise. im not sure if you randoms know but bax and sheets dont need money from poker, and dont need to cheat. if anything i think what they are doing is good for poker.
  29. Chip disparity...

people in the same groups are often friends and this would play a role even more so if it was the backer vs. the backee.
  30. these ppl just don't get it, Randers... they have never been in that spot and don't understand how it works... it's much more fun to think some conspiracy or monopoly is happening

I mean, durrrr put me in the 25k WPT and was on my right for all of day 2... I couldn't wait to 3 bet him and he was flat calling my raises, playing pots to the river, hammering my blinds etc... we didn't even think for one second to soft play each other, and that is in a 25k!

sheets and bax make it very clear to the players they back that they will be fired for any type of soft play or collusion...
