    I guess ship is taking a break from tourney's for a while because i have seen him playing 2/4 full ring on stars. I have played with him the last three days and he is one of the better players at this level for sure. Anyways he could probably make more money grinding cash anyways.

    back when he grinded sngs he played alot of short handed limit as well.

    If he is indeed one of the best 2-4NL playa's online he would have to run awfully bad to make less than he would playing MTT's, or run awfully good playing MTT's to make more than he would running AVG playing cash, of course this is assuming he's one of the best 400NL playa's in the house.

    edit:

    Oh yeah and he has to put in a fairly large amount of volume for my theory.

    i strongly disagree that 2/4nl players are capable of making the same money as top tourney pros. I dont think you understand how big buyins are in mtts online right now and how much money there is to be made. I actually doubt the top 3/6 players make anywhere in the neighborhood of the top mtt players in a year on average. I think 5/10 is where the top players probably are capable of outearning tournament players.

    also throw in the unbelievable amount of dead money in live tournaments that online players play in a year their expectation for a year is significantly higher than 2/4 and 3/6 players.

    Amak im going to have to disagree with you. If you go on two plus two there are graphs of the top 2/4 3/6 and 1/2 players. The thing that really deviates the two is the people who put in mass amounts of volume on stars with their VIP services. You would be amazed at the amount of money these guys make from bonuses alone. A good 1/2 grinder 15-20 tableing 1/2 FR games can make on avg 100k in bonuses alone. SO if you can break even i would say you are making more than most pros, let alone the people who show that they are beating the games for 200k+bonuses.

    Well I would never assume that a MTT junkie like ship would give up MTT's all together, you can grind 400-600NL all day erry day and still hit the nightly hundred grands and the weekly millions and various other MTT's and get the best of both worlds.

    What kind of volume are we talking about here? The top MTTer is playing how many MTT's and making how much? Then how much are we thinking one of the best 400NL playa's is making and how much are we assuming they are playing?

    On tilt sessions though an MTT grinder will come out with more $ still in their accounts than a cash game grinder will because of cash game swings.

    Trust me this arguement has been brough up on pocketfives several times of who makes more and who is better at poker. It has been determined except for an elite few cash game players make more and due to the fact that they are always playing deepstack poker that they are generally better poker players. And to answer your question good cash game players are playing anywhere from 30-50 hours a week, they dont exagerate when they say they grind it out.

    I am not saying that he would quit tournaments, why would a very good player do that. Now say if Ship put in the same amount of hours that he did in tournaments playing cash i think he would easily make more than he would playing tournaments unless he hit a huge score.
