heres the secnario. theres 63 players remainging theres 9 people at your table.
Blinds are 2/4k
You have 8k on the Button.
UTG raises to 12k. Mid position calls 12k. Guy to your right goes all in for 50k.
You look down and you have AA.. player to your right covers both the early raisers and each of them only has about 12k left.
The pot would be 31,800 For you if you won.
Heres the spin off.. with this players in you are not the FAV to win.. and you know that both players are going to be calling this because guy beside you is very aggresive. The bubble pays out 1,750 and you won your entry for only 33 bucks online. Do you play for this win and gamble with your AA (your not the fav) Or do you let someone here knock at least 1 or 2 people out.. and you have 8 free hands till your all in. at the BB.. (8 hanbds for only 1 more person to be knocked out) -
I call and play for the win. Not gonna get a better hand than that to move the stack with and try to get back into contention.

ya i was thinkin that if espn was there.. and you folded this on the TV table.. and of the guys did indeed spike a set.. and you went on to make money it would pretty impressive.. but on the other hand if AA held.. youd have a bad rep forever and they always call ya Mucker or something :P
-
There is only one time I could think to fold AA, that would be if you are in a satelite and like top 5 get a seat and there are like 8 left and you have enough $$$ to fold your way to the seat. This is a no brainer you must call with AA, you can triple up if I read this right. MUST CALL
iloveparis -
I agree with ILP, you cant possibly fold here...I mean, youre favored against a single opponant, and even if you get a caller your a coinflip...4 in the hand and it starts to get interesting, but likley only one of the 2 initial raisers will call..and they might even both fold...
Tell us already..what happend!!! -
I type in the chat box "I HAVE POCKET ACES, so you other 2 guys don't embarrass yourself or piss me off... just fold.... I have ACES, you'll see them.. JUST FOLD!!!"
And then hopefully they fold and I get a heads up pot.
I'm not sure if this is entiremly ethical... but sometimes when I'm raising, or reraising I'll type into the box that I have a pair, or another strong hand to encourage people to fold. I think when people KNOW they are racing, or are behind they may be more liekly to fold (even if they are getting decent pot odds, they may prefer to save chips for a diff. hand.) -
Three guys are already jumping on this pot. Question is, what has them all so excited? You're the one with the Aces.
Don't bother to worry what the right play might be. Don't even worry about what any of them might have. Just open up your Notepad and record everything that happens after you Call... because you are definitely going to Call here. For two very good reasons.
1. You get to see at least the big stack's hand, and very probably both of the other hands as well.
2. No matter what happens, you can't lose any money here. You're so far past your break even point that you're Freerolling. Take advantage of that. You ARE going to run across these guys again. Probably tomorrow. It would be good to have concrete information on them, and maybe give them a little misinformation about you in the process.
Call and giggle as you write down what it is that can get them all so excited. -
For $1750 it's an easy call. For $10,000 or $25,000 i'd have to stop and think, but since folding wouldn't guarantee me any money even if both short stacks bust out, i'd still call.

It'd be funny if two of the players had AK and the other had KK.... and so they were all drawing dead to your AA's :)

I actually had this exact situation come up for me last week. It was a $100 tourney on party poker and 50 paid (i think). Anyways I was in last place with 51 left. I have 300 chips and the average stack is around 6k.
The player UTG made a raise and 2 players after him move in.
I am faced with the dilemma of calling or folding my way into the $...which would have been $216.
I decided that I wasn't really going to be in contention even if i won the pot so i folded and took the $216.
anyone here think im a pussy?
lol -
You aren't going to make money picking up bubble places. You have to make top 3 finishes to make some real dough...simplest call ever
-
The only time I sacrifice expected value is if the money is going to be life changing money. I ahve folded AA in the satellite situation someone described, but in this situation you have to call. If 62nd place pays $1750 then getting to the final table must give you a shot at close to a million.
I think there is a very good chance one or two players fold after you because of the bubble situation. I also think your chance of winning this hand is higher than you might think. To commit so many chips when the bubble is about to burst indicates very strong hands. The guys either have paired hands which are only about 4.5 to 1 to beat you per paired hand. or they have two big cards which you or another player may have counterfeited giving them less chance fo making two pair. If these were random hands then you are actually in more trouble.
Wouldn't it be nice to see them flip over AK, AK and KK that leaves the drawing dead to a QJT for a straight, rare flush possibilties or a split with quads on board? KK, KK and QQ would be alright for you as well.
If $1,750 is going to triple your bankroll and get you started toward a life as a serious player then there might be a reason to fold. -
YOU MUST GO FOR IT. you entered the tourney to win no? your goal should never be to make the money.
